  1. I really like Picasso’s painting ‘Weeping Woman” because of its bright colours and sharp shapes. When I was younger I traced the drawing very carefully and I did my own copy of it so it also reminds me of when I was young and had lots of time to draw. It is a sad picture and it makes me wonder why the woman is crying. What do you think? Can you see what she has in her hand?

  2. My favourite piece of art is The Lady of Shalott by William Holman Hunt.

I like the bold colours and all of the detail that the artist has included. I also like how the lady’s hair is so wild – I wish mine looked more like that!

Can you see the knight through the window? I wonder who he is…

    Lucy

Can you see what this art work is made from?
I find the colours enticing; for me, it conjures up ideas of space and the Sun – where does that black hole lead to, I wonder?
How long do you think the art work will last in the open air?
I would love to come across one of his masterpieces when I’m out on a walk.

I particularly love the vibrant colours that are very represenative of the Californian sunshine which must have seemed very different and exotic to a Yorkshireman like Hockney in the 1960s.
