Life Is Like a Ladder
life is like a
ladder the next
rung is always progress.
You need to keep climbing
even if its hard and your scared about what
will happen next.
If you fall
you must get back
up.
believe
you can do it.
believe in yourself.
They will always
lead to something.
But they
wont always be stable.
but keep going
you will reach that point you want to reach.
wow i love the part that said wont always be stable
From Paw To Paw
Well, newwey, Ill tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no happy paw full of toys and bones
It had roads that heart ears
And scars and sleeping on the floor
And my owner’s worried voice saying something about the rent?
Still dont know what that means
But all the time Ive been caring on
And jumping to help give food to stray paws even if it means I have less
And jumping to give water to giverway paws
And Sometimes going back to the apartment with no one there
– Whining at the door-
So, New paw, this is my paw and soon will be yours
Dont stop jumping to care for others
Cause you’ll find it kinda hard when you need help
Dont ignore now
For i am still jumping
Im still caring
And life for me aient been no happy paw
Life is like a hard maze
So much twists and turns
You’ll never know what’s round the corner
You may never know what happens next
Hope for the best
Life is a mystery
Life is like a book
Most of the time you’ll have a good end to you’re journey
You’ll have a vicious enemy at all time
Even exciting suspense
Drama
Friendships ups and down
Life Is Like A Roller Coaster.
Life is like a never ending roller coaster,
you might be feeling really good one moment,
and then plummet down into a bad feeling,
the loops are confusing,
jaw dropping never ending
Movies
Life is like a movie,
You never know what will happen on the next scene,
Alot of choices to pick,
Almost too many!
When the movies over you feel almost dead,
Life is like a roller coster,
you don’t know how long will be,
you don’t know where it will end,
it want always be fun,
you will sometimes face abstocles,
like a deadly jump,
you don’t know what you will find at the end
Life is like an outstanding adventure
You will face obstacles
And you don’t know how it will end.
You don’t know what will happen.
You don’t know what you’ll find
You don’t know how long it will last
You don’t know your luck.
You need to be careful
And work together as a team.
You need to be careful
vfosi
Life is a ladder
Sometimes it goes up sometimes it goes down
You climb it fast or slow
You choose to take the next step
Step by Step
It corrodes overtime
Not knowing what is next
Its a mystery until you take the next step
Can it end?
Can’s it?
As it goes on for who knows how long
Don’t give up
I’se comin’ soon
Sometimes I’se found’s it hard to
Climb
But I didn’t give up
Keep Climbing
And don’t stop
My child
I’se comin’ home
Life is like a roller coster,
you don’t know how long will be,
you don’t know where it will end,
it want always be fun,
you will sometimes face abstocles,
like a deadly jump,
you don’t know what you will find at the end.
Life is like a long, puzzling path
You don’t know where it will lead you
Don’t know when it will end
It will be challenge
But you can overcome the difficult
I’s been walking and walking
Life may not be easy
But we can enjoy it
We can see the warm, orange sunset
On the shore
We can do anything
As long as we don’t give up
And life , life ain’t been no easy, short path
Father to Daughter
Life is like an endless staircase
You never know what will await you
There are gaps in the steps
No soft carpet on your feet
Cold
Your life can change in seconds
There are many trials and tribulations
Tests are complex
Be ready
Complicating challenges are ready for you
Voyages await in your life
Have resilience, my child
I’ve still carried on
Never let people get the better of you
Be determined
Because life is like an endless staircase.
I think that the poem is inspirational because it shows how the mother still carried on at a rough time.
The poem is a sad but Inspirational poem that I really like
Life is like a roller coaster
There are lots of ups and
Downs and sometimes
It is scary
There lots of obstacles
And challenges
On your way
Sometimes it is hard to do it
Life is like a pair of shoes
you can get different options
and you don’t know how long you can last
or even were you can go.
But at the end their can be twists and turns
Trainers will bring you to a peaceful village
but high heels will bring you to a nice dinner and flip flops will bring you to the seaside
Be the leader of your shoes
Life is like a chapter book
Every day is a new chapter book
Like sometimes there are villians
in the story just like there are
bullies
you like you meet new characters
just like how you meet new friends
Every problem gets fixed at the end just like how your
problems gets fixed or like dealt with at the end
Every chapter is a new part of the part of the story
Every chapter builds up a new story
like how you build up your life fro leaving school
going to university
getting a job
getting a new house
and having children
This was an inspirational poem that helped me realise that life in the future won’t be as easy as it is now. That I should know life will have a bad side towards it.
Life is like a movie
You don’t know what you’ll find
You will face obstacles
You will meet all sort of different characters
You don’t know how it’ll end
There could be : storms, fighting and lots more obstacles to face
You don’t know how long it’ll last
Life is like a movie
Life is like a chapter book
Every day is a new chapter book
Like sometimes there are villains
in the story just like there are
Bullies
you like you meet new characters
just like how you meet new friends
Every problem gets fixed at the end just like how your
problems gets fixed or like dealt with at the end
Every chapter is a new part of the part of the story
Every chapter builds up a new story
like how you build up your life fro leaving school
going to university
getting a job
getting a new house
and having children
Life is like an amazing book,
Sometimes bad things happen,
But you can fix those problems,
Good things happen too,
Remember that when you’re in trouble,
Life has years , more and more as you grow up,
A book has chapters , the number growing the more you read,
When you read a book you never know what will happen next,
A sudden twist ,
Or an unexpected turn,
Life is the same,
You think you have your future figured out,
And then it all changes,
Life throws you onto a new path,
And you can never guess the ending until you read it,
And you don’t know your career until you get it,
It’s all a mystery,
So life is like a book.
I like the poem because it has a amazing way of not giving up and it reminds me to keep trying I also like the phrase ” life has been no crystal stair”because it gives me that they
had a hard time.
Life is an amazing adventure
some times you will face obstacles
some times you will face tests
and friendship
bullying,
and handwriting.
some times you will face friendship,
you will face working at school
I liked this poem because it was really inspirational and the message to never give up was very strong. It showed that even if you are poor you can achieve a lot, but only if you believe.
I like the poem because its a mother talking to son and telling him not to give up on life and its full of tacks witch is a methor for its full of ups and downs and that life will not be how you want it to be.
i love this poem because it gave of a very nice message to never give up and always keep going until you reach your dream even if your going threw the worst thing ever just always believe in yourself and always try your best at all times
Mother to son is a poem about resilience and inequality where a mother (supposibly black african-american) explains the difficulty of life and the racism of the outside world to her son .The mother motavates her son by saying:”But all the time I’se been climbing and reachin’ landin’s and turnin’ corners”which implies that if she could do it then he could to.
This poem “Mother to son ” is about a mother being very ambitious , I really liked this poem because of the encouragement from the mother by being very resilient by comparing her life to crystal stairs . It was very inspirational because of the mesage Langston Hughes saying that if you were poor life was very hard and the mother getting her son to be ready for life.
Mother to son is a poem about resilience and inequality where a mother (supposibly black african-american) explains the difficulty of life and the racism of the outside world to her son .The mother motavates her son by saying:”But all the time I’se been climbing and reachin’ landin’s and turnin’ corners”.
This poem is insperational and i like how the message says to never give up even if your poor and dont have much because if you belive and never give up then you will succeed
this poem is very good because it has a message saying not to give up and it tells you that you should belive and if you dont give up you will succed
I really enjoyed reading this.
I think this poem is about resilience and determination because the woman speaking is talking about how her life has not been perfect, I think this because the text says “but all the time, Is’e been a-climbing on and reachin’ landin’s and turnin’ corners” wich tells me she is very resilient.
I like how the poem is an extended negative metaphor. This works well because it means you can think about it in many different ways. E.G. you can think of it as a metaphor for life, or for something private to you.
I find this poem motivating because the message is to not give up and keep on going even in the dark times i know this because it says “life ain’t been no crystal stair ” and it also says”goin’ in the dark where there ain’t been no light. Which tell me it is motivating.
I love the poem ‘Mother to Son’ by Langton Hughes because the message in the poem is very inspirational and in the poem it tells us so much about how hard the mothers life has been.In this poem the mother has told her son as an extended negative metaphor to not give up no matter what and to keep going.I have learnt that Langston Hughes has had such passion for poetry and changing lifes.I feel that this message has inspired me so much and has made me feel that anything can happen in life.
This poem is very inspirational because it explains how the mother keeps on fighting for her and her son and she keeps on motivating her son and i know that she had to keep on fighting because at the time it was set racism was a big thing and it was really inspiring of how she kept on fighting
I like this poem because instead of saying my life was bad it said my life ant been no crystal stair .I think this is a very smart idea of how organise a poem
I realy enjoyed this peotry course becuse its realy helped me open up and find out how much i love poetry.
i like this poem because the mother is trying to help her son Don’t give up face to face Reality world and don’t look back or turn back. And where it say be good and work hard.
I like the way the author Langston Hughes uses metaphor though out the poem it makes me think about how hard the mother has gone though I know this because the mother says life aint been no cristal stair this tells me that she wants her son to become sucsessfull.
i like the way the auther said life hasint bin a crystial stiar it explans that the mother had to struggtle to take care of her son.
This poem is about the advice a mother gives to her son, that you need to be resilient and not give up, because the text says ‘turning’, ‘climbing’ and ‘reaching’. This rule of three shows she is a defiant person, with a strong personality because she doesn’t stop climbing. These three words shows she kept moving on in her life.
Well , brother I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no
Book of fairytales and happily ever afters.
It’s had cobwebs, spider and ripped pages.
But all the time I’ve been holdin on and holdin on tight.
So, brother don’t you turn back your book of fairytales will be ruined!,
Dont set down because it’s hard to get back up.
Dont drop now.
See I’m still going, i’se still holdin on .
Life for me hasn’t be no book of fairytales.
Well, sister I’ll tell you: life for me ain’t
No paradise island
It’s had broken trees in it
and broken boats,
With splashing dirty waves-
freezing cold.
But all the time
I’ve been exploring on,
and finding new things,
and sailing seas and
sometimes sharks
attack.cutting big
trees and walking on
So sister don’t stop exploring
the world don’t stop because
your tired.
For i’m still going
so don’t stop
sailing and exploring
Because life for
me was not no
Paradise island.
A Stern talk
Well bro,lets talk
Life for me aint been no golden fairytale
No happily ever after
A great big disaster
It had smudges and missed opertunitys
Rips and tears
Torn and clawn up
So barace yourself for this information
I went into places with no light
I was always in a fright
But you have to be ready to
Fight!
Sometimes i went places were it was way to
Bright
But i forgot about the night…
But ise still going
Bro…
Ise still reachin B
And remeber
When you get stung by a Bee
Just keep going B
Keep pushing my trooper
Keep a spare brave face in your pocket
And you’ll make it out ok
Keep a straight spine
Keep flicking through
Keep punctuation good
But most importantly…
Keep a clear image
Well, crew, I’ll tell you:
Life for my aint been no crystal voyage.
It’s had cracks in it,
I’m broken barrels,
And eaten crewmates,
Pieces with no gold on the floor…
Bare.
But all the time
I’se still been a singin’ on,
And reachin’ islands,
And turnin’ directions,
And sometimes goin’ in the storm
Where there aint been no surviver.
So crew, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you stop steering,
Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now.
For I’se still been sailin’, crew,
I’se still been singin’
And life for me aint been no crystal voyage.
From Rider to Horse
Well Smokey, I’ll tell you
Life for us ain’t been no sapphire saddle.
Its had falls in it,
And bumpy tracks
And unimproved walks
With un-padded schools.
So you be grateful, you go first
And there is still time for you, to turn into four stars.
So don’t eat too much hay,
But savour every bite.
Because I’ve had to ride on gravel roads
And sometimes on concrete too.
But I’m still going; and so should you,
And life for me ain’t been no sapphire saddle.
Well,reader,i’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no fancy fairytale book.
It’s had smudged pictures in it,
And broken spines,
And ripped out pages,
And places with no happily ever after
But all the time
I’se been looking for a good ending,
And reachin’ for support,
And turnin’ to others for help.
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So reader, don’t you look for a happily ever after,
Don’t you look for it.
‘Cause you finds it’s kinda harder now.
Don’t fall now
For i’se still going’,honey
I’se still searchin’,
And life for me ain’t been no fancy fairytale book.
Well people ill tell you …
Life for me aint been to golden ladder
Its had broken steps in it
And nails in the steps
And falling steps
And places whith no turn .
But all the time i have been climing on
And reaching high
And being resilient .
And some times going in the dark where there aint no light
So if you fall dont you walk away dont you sit down
Cause you find it kinder hard
Dont you fall know
Fall im still going
I have still been climing on
Life for me aint been no golden ladder.
Well, I’ll tell you,
Life for me aint been no toy rabbit,
It’s had torn up fur,
Eyes ripped out,
No ears attached to it’s head
And no tail either-
Broken.
But all the time,
Night and day,
I have kept going,
Even when there are tough times,
I’m still going.
Running in hallways and playing in a playground,
And sometimes even being alone,
I won’t stop going.
And even if someone is rude,
Like i said:
Life for me ain’t been no toy rabbit.

From Sister to the other
Well sis, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no fancy roller coaster
Its,had bars and barriers in it and scratched seats
And places with just dirt and muddy earthg
But all the time
I’se been swaying on
And, looking and turning
And, running and sprinting
And,fighting and arguing
Also, sometimes going to a alley
And wishing I could see light in my life
Well there aint been no good luck
So girl, dont you give up
Dont you leave that resilience in your heart
Cause you finds its kinder hard
Dont you stumble now
For I’se still going sis
And life for me aint been no fun roller coaster
I thought the poem by Langston Hughes was very touchy, sad but also nice as it had emotional parts and happy parts but it was a mix of both worlds.I like the way he put bare on its own line because it enphasises the bare and it had alot of great adjectives. It also quite suprised me when Hannah told us the speaker was a woman because everyone,me included thought the speaker was a man but it was a woman and the poem was called Mother to son.Overall the poem was great and I would defenately read it again.
Welll son I tell you life for me ain’t no staircase it had crystal in it and gold and gems. And places with no carpet but all the time I’se been climbing and reachin land and turnin corners and sometimes goin’ in the dark where there an’t been no light so child, don’t you turn back don’t you sit down on the step cause you finds it kinder hard don’t you fall now for I’se still goin’, honey I’se still cilmbin’ and life for me an’t no stair case.
Well kid, I’ll tell you: life for me hasn’t been no nice life with a nice house and being wealthy.
It had broken, torn buttons with devastating elevater floors and more arguements.
But all the time I’se been travelling floor to floor and pressing buttons from buttons and losing work.
Some times sleeping in the streets where there hasn’t been any food.
So kid, dont you give up.
Dont you lose hope of everything.
Cause you finds it kinds hard.
Dont you fade away now for I’se still going.
I’se still workin.
And life for me hasn’t been no clear elevator.
I didnt really like this poem because its quite boring and some of the words are hard to say, for example,’i’se’.It also takes a long time to read because its a very big poem, and in the part where it said ‘crystal staircase’,it repeats itself and the end of the poem.

From One Cousin To The Other
Well, Matias, I’ll tell you
Life for me ain’t been no HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
It’s had saying goodbyes to the people who I loved most,
And pages all dull
And Covers not so beautiful
And pages burned-
Care
But all the time
I’se been changing chapters
And crumbling pages
And sometimes even going in to the deep dark forest
Where there ain’t been no light
So Mati, don’t you give up
Don’t you turn back
Cause you finds it kinda harder
Don’t you give up now-
For I’se still going, cousin,
I’se still reading
And life for me ain’t been no HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
I didnt like it because it had specific quotes that I didnt really like:
‘ Dont give up ‘
‘… honey ….’
And I dont like the stairs as crystal because crystal is actually really sliperry to walk on so I dont get why tthey used it as easy life.
Well brother, I’ll tell you,
Life for me ain’t been no fun and happy road.
It’s had pollution, making it hard for me to breath.
And tornado’s sucking everything
And tsunami’s washing the whole city down.
But all the time,
I’m still walking
I’m still running
I’m still jogging till I die.
And sometimes going into creepy alleyways
Where there is nobody to help me.
So brother don’t you give up
Be resilient
Because if you don’t be resilient you will never succeed
So don’t you go back
For I’m still walking
And I’m still running
And life for me ain’t been no happy
I like the poem because because it said an important message
Be resilient, never give up and Always try your best
This poem is about a mother warning her son about not giving up because in the poem, she says ”don’t set down on the steps” so he might be considering giving up finding a job. I liked it because it reminds you not to give up because if you do, you might not be able to keep up later on in life. I thought the phrase ”crystal staircase” worked well, because each step might be like each year in your life or a big event and the quality of the stair is like the quality of life. I think it could of been improved slightly if it did not repeat the ”and” twice in the poem because it sounds very repetitive.
BLOG
When reading i thought this,
I liked it because the mother is telling her son that she is still holding on and it will be hard but its better than nothing
i thought it was effective at this when she says “so boy , dont turn back dont set down on the steps” it like a special quote from his mother.
i think it could have been improved if it was longer and more fact and known stuff about the son not just the mother.
When reading mother to son I really like the peom because it is saying do not give up and stay focused and you have to work for the stuff you want and it is inspirational
I think it can be improved by making the peom a bit longer and add more adjectives .
I like the part when it says she’s been ‘climbin’ and ‘turning corners’
Because that shows that she is resilient and won’t give up no matter how dark and scary
The situation is .
The poem is really nice and heart warming to the readers who are having a
Rough time.
I like this poem because it tells you never to give up even when you think you will never succeed and it is saying that from the mothers experience in the poem. I thought that it was very effective when the poet says life for me ain’t been no crystal staircase because it makes you think more deeply into that sentence and why the poet used that metaphor. I also found it effective when the author put bare on it’s own in a line because it makes us give that word more attention and that the mother didn’t have enough money to fix the staircase. I think that it would be inproved if the poet used some similes to describe the metaphor.
Well Sir,
Life for me ain’t been no fairytale, it’s had pages ripped out of it and dust covering it all around and soaked wit rain but don’t stop reading for I am still working hard and still trying to start a once upon a time and end with a happy ending. So don’t you stop reading as when you get to the bottom of the page every one will have a happy ever after.
Well Aren i’ll tell you life for me
Been no crystal ruler
It’s had shattered pieces on it
And rubbed out numbers and lines
And places with no numbers on the other side.
But all the time I’se been fixing edges and reachin’ the middle of the ruler
And turnin’ numbers to lines
And sometimes goin’ in the dark where there been no light
So don’t turn your back dont you get scared.
Don’t you get scared of the darkness.
So you see life hasn’t been no crystal ruler.
I like his mom when she said never give up don’t turn back and I like when she say like for her is no crystal staircase because she saying to her son life is not easy and she saying to her son to not give up and stay strong.
Well future, I’ll tell you: Life for me ain’t been no ***** star review it had spiders in it. And dust all around it with broken bits. And saliva in it, and places with the water stains on it but all the time I’se been read on with chapters to open. And reachin’ to look at the cover with mold in it, and turnin’ to see some faded writing. And sometimes goin’ in the dark where there ain’t been no light.
So future don’t you take me down. Don’t you stop me from reachin’ my goal, ’cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now for I’se still goin’, honey, I’se still climbin’,
and life for me ain’t been no ***** star review.
I liked it because it really sends a message and shows that a real mother and son could be having the same conversation.
I also thought it was effective when the poet uses a crystal staircase as an example for the poem because the crystal staircase’s are really expensive and fragile. So therefor it means that maybe she’s really poor and can’t for a new staircase.
The phrase “don’t you fall now for i’se still goin’ , honey”. Worked very well because it tells the reader and the son to never give up.
When the class was reading the poem they were really hooked onto the words and adjectives great poem we loved it! š
Well child I’ll tell you life for me ain’t been no adventure it’s had a lot of deaths in it, And the people in my life are all gone, And so I learned how to respect the dead, And places with forgotten people but all the time I’se been dreaming for my friends to come back, And reachin’ for a new life, And turnin’ to the next chapter And sometimes goin’ in the dark where there ain’t been no light. So don’t you avoid death, Don’t you try. Don’t you cry when you die just look up at the sky and say goodbye ’cause you finds it’s kinder hard. Don’t you fall now For I’se still goin’, honey, i’se still climbin’, And life for me ain’t for been no adventure.
I like the poem because it Inspires you to do your best in everything you try. Turnin’ reachin’ landin’ and other supported to make you do your best at everything you do. It will motivate your confidence.
I like the way the author Langston Hughes
uses metaphors throughout the poem it makes
me think about all the struggles the mother has gone through.
I like the poem because it tells her story and is very inspiring for when you are going through a tough time you still keep trying your hardest. And when the people around you are going through something you still try to help. I think It was effective when the poet wrote but I’se still climbing because it shows she never gives up. I also think It would be better if the mother told the son more about the future than the present.
The phase don’t stop now works well because it means don’t give up.
In the peom ‘Mother to son’, I love the phrase ‘Life for me ain’t been no crystal staircase’ because it represents life. When you have a great, rich and prosperous life you would have a crystal or fancy staircase, but if you had a terrible, poor and sad life, then you would have a worn out staircase which would have splinters, tacks, mould, and sharp edges. I thought the poem was effetive when the poet says ‘Don’t you fall now-‘ because it shows how people could fall into depression which would make them fall. I think it could have been improved if they made it more sad so it could be more emotional. The word ‘Bare’ works well because it add impact on the peom which makes it more effective.
I like the poem “Mother to Son” beacuse it give a very good inspirational moral (never give up). I also think that the poet using a staircase as an effective negative extended metaphor because the steps represent the steps in life to success.
I have really enjoyed reading this poem and exploring though it this week because it shows that every life is not perfect even when in every fairy tale it will end with a happily ever after. But I did think the poem could use a bit more old words that are not used any more as an improvement.
I think the poem was good because it tells you not to give up and to be resilient.
I think it was effective how the poet put it as a crystal staircase because the wooden staircase shows that they had a hard life and the crystal one shows that it was easier.
I think it could have been improved if the poet talked about the difference between the mother’s and son’s life.
The phrase don’t you fall now for I’m still climbing works well because it tells us not to give up and keep trying till you’ve done it because nothing is impossible.
