  1. BOOM…BANG
    Bombs of poison
    Rain of doom
The fire kept blazing, the angry fire

    We got into the house
    Locked the door, twice
We stay here, it felt like
    Years…

We saw the coin coulor of boredom
    Creeping in but crow stared
    The crow of doom
He was staring at us as if someone was…
    Dead.

The crow flew away but the raven came
    The raven of sadness…
    The heather grew and grew
    The heather of independence
    Hope, hope finally came as
    The bombing died down
    we could see our friends
    see our family

    Life…normal again? No as
    the raven came back
and said, ”There will be more!”
    but the peacock also came

    The peacock of hope
    said one very, very
    important word..
    “Hope”

  2. Hope is a thing that perches in the soul

Hope is a thing that perches in the soul,
It protects you until it’s nearly dawn,
Its shines like a golden daffodil in the sky,

Hope I like a golden warrior,
It fights the shadows and brings out the light,
It’s like a bird swaying in the trees,

Hope is a thing that soar’s in your heart,
Hope and you will never depart,
Hope can shine the golden warrior in you,

Hope is a thing that shines like the sun,
It will stay with you until you’re done,
Hope can keep your spirit strong,

Hope is a thing stronger than darkness,
    It roars for the hopeless,
    It shines across the universe,

  3. Hope and Freedom

Well future children, let me tell you a story,
    There was racism and hatred,
    It has always been around.

Till 2020, when everything got out of hand,
A black American man George Floyd was his name,
Got forced to the ground, he pleaded God’s name in vein.

A police officer forced his knee in his neck,
    George said…” I can’t breathe,”
    The officer wouldn’t let go.

    A few minutes had passed,
    That’s when everyone went quite,
The inconsiderate officer was a murder a killer,
He killed him because he was black.

Everyone had heard about the unnecessary murder,
    There was fear and annoyance,
    The wind roared with anger,
That was when an amazing thing happened…

    At first there was violence,
    Police stations burnt down,
    There were peaceful protests nationwide.

    Few minutes’ silence,
    Down on one knee chanting,
    I CAN’T BREATHE.

    There were protests everyday,
    Black and whites would agree.

    Few minutes’ silence,
Down on one knee chanting I can’t breathe.

So listen carefully children Racism still exists today,
Don’t let people bring you down,
    As you are beautiful…
    In every way

  4. The Raven

The jets black Raven stalks my soul,
    Its charcoal eyes
    Its crestfallen cries
Consuming all the good in life

    Its suffocates my heart
    Make me a mess
Perches in my soul like I am a nest
    For that is the raven

The heartless raven creeps into my dreams
    Torturing me day and night
Feeding on my guilt my heart and my soul
    Until i just cannot fight

But always out there is a little thing called Hope
    That’s kept so many warm
Devouring the rave killing the swarm
Like a fire that never dies down

    Hope is free
So precious it is like a little piece of gold
Singing even in the darkest of days
Joining people all over the world

  7. “Hope is the thing with happiness
    That perches in your heart
    And sings the sweetest songs
And never stop – at all –
And sweetest – in the hopelessness – is heard
And sore must be the sadness
    That could abash the hope
    That kept so many warm
I’ve heard it in the weirdest land
    And the horrifying sea
Yet – never – in extremity,
It asked a slice of me

  8. The last few days before lockdown,
    Everyone panic buying food,
    Shops beginning to shut,
Schools are beginning to close too.

    Now my cage is shut,
    Everyone else’s to,
    Internet continually lagging,
    No one able to move.

The blazing gold sun has come out as well,
But we are only allowed out once a day,
People are getting used to the rules now,
    And it’s already May!

    This inconsiderate isolation,
    Is getting boring now,
The government said we can meet people soon,
But I really don’t know how.

The news is getting better every day,
We will be let put soon,
    I’m so excited,
And my friends are over the moon.

The last few days before lockdown ends,
    Everybody calm about food,
    Shops beginning to open,
    Schools are opening too.

  9. Hope

Hope is like a bright colorful rainbow in a storm
Hope can be like a hurricane very hard and not fair
Hope is like a beautiful garden with lovely pear trees and emerald grass
Life can be like a misty journey with twisted paths
Hope is like a path paved with gold
Hope is like a light at the end of a tunnel
Hope can be like a guardian angel watching over you
Hope is like the NHS helping us

Hope can be like a ghost or a evil spirit telling us to do the wrong thing .hope is like a elegant sapphire butterfly fluttering around cabbages in the garden . hope can be like a big heavy rain storm

hope is like a beach with sparkling sand and a gleaming clear ocean hope can be like a tangerine bumblebee sunset
hope is like a bright colorful rainbow

  10. Hope is like a rainbow
A path going left and right
I feel like the world has stopped

With nobody outside but bird soring
    Through the arctic sky
Staying at home hoping to be free
    Seeing the olive nature
Hope is a love of your mum

    Sometime people need a warm
    Hug but we can’t

    We can’t hug
    We can’t play
    The rule have be made
And we have to obey the rule
    Smoke speeds like the virus
    Nothing to do
But inside there all ways happiness
    Hope is like a trophy
    And getting a big hug
    Like kicking a final goal
    And being happy

    By Zara Kaya

  11. Hope is like when
Your mum gives you HOPE IS LIKE
    a hug and like
    a soldier fighting
    for you.

    Hope is like the
    NHS helping people
    Hope is like a
    Bird soaring in the
    Swaying trees.

    Hope is like a
    Journey it will
    Have twisting paths
    And diversions that are
    Unexpected.

Hope is like a path paved
    With gold a rainbow (it
    Comes out after the storm)
Hope is like a free bird.

    Hope is like having
    Wine with your friends
But when your hope runs out,
It’s a storm and rain and hurricane.

It’s like a caged bird no escape
A path that Is blocked or unclear
    A rickety staircase.

  12. Hope as a peacock

    Hope is like a peacock,
    With all its lovely feathers,
    Full of its bright colours,
    In all the different feathers.

    But sometimes its not close,
    And sometimes its not there,
    Hunted by some real fear,
Life ain’t just an amazing fair.

    Hope is like a peacock,
    Its body glowing lime,
    Showing you of happiness,
All the time you’re with it.

But when it stops glowing bright,
And goes as dark as doom,
That is when it leaves you,
    But never forever.

Faith is the thing that is always inside you
Faith is the thing that is the light at the end of a tunnel
Faith is the brightness inside you

Love is like a family gathering grace
Love is like a new start
Love is like a chart of happiness

  14. Out of breath

    At first the cheetah ran,
Ran as fast as the breeze,
But now it’s out of breath,
    The running has ceased.

    It’s laying down,
    In a nightmarish sleep,
    On the barren land,
Screams from the promise it can’t keep.

    The cheetah was running,
    But now it has stopped,
That’s it. It’s out of breath,
    The energy’s dropped.

In its dream it sees things,
    Hurrying hospitals,
It knows it must wake up,
But it can’t. It’s too tired.

    And the midnight crow,
    Squawks its sorrow song,
    The cheetah is sleeping,
    So hope isn’t strong.

    The cheetah was running,
    But now it has stopped,
That’s it. It’s out of breath,
    The energy’s dropped.

    But slowly yet surely,
    It’s regaining its strength,
    It’s not as tired,
But it still can’t run its final length.

    Now it’s getting up,
    After months of rest,
    It’s back on its track,
    This will be its best.

    The cheetah was sleeping,
    But now it’s awake,
    It’s back on its track,
    No longer the ache.

  15. Hope is like fire,
As much as someone tries to blow it out there will always be a spark,
And as small as they are
They will show in the dark.

It is as light as a morning sunrise,
And sometimes it will dodge rain
    It moves onto other things,
    And eventually causing pain.

    Its flames are crimson red,
It stands out in the cyan sky,
And it will always stay with you,
    But never fly.

    Eventually the fire causes fog,
And gives other sparks to people without hope,
Then it causes a huge cycle,
    That is really quite dope.

  16. Imagine

    Imagine a tiger,
    With charcoal stripes,
    And an amber coat,
    That glows so bright.

    Imagine its home,
    With emerald leaves,
    Where vibrant fruit,
    Grow on chocolate brown trees.

    Now imagine a fire,
    That starts far away,
    And spreads its flames,
    Until nothing is safe.

    So the tiger is hiding,
    And the tiger is praying,
    But there’s a certain price,
    That comes with home-staying

It’s a price that numbs you,
    Inside and out,
    Coils around your heart,
    To replace it with doubt.

    So the leaves laugh,
    And the trees jeer,
    And the vibrant fruit,
    Wear a mocking sneer.
    But imagine our tiger,
    With its charcoal stripes,
    And amber coat,
    Glowing fiery and bright

    Imagine it standing,
    Still tall and strong,
    Defending its home,
    Where it’s meant to belong.

  17. Hope is the thing with love

Hope is the thing with love,
    That perches in the heart,
    And sings its way through,
And it never stop –at – all,
And sweetest – in the shape –it heard.

And sore must be the like of me,
That could abash the crush of me,
That kept so many warm names of me,
I’ve heard it in the love land.

    And on the blue sea,
    Yet-never – extremity,
It asked a true meaning of me.

  18. Lockdown blues

The blue sky’s choked up with fog,
    The world stopped spinning,
The Devil came round the corner,
    And the Devil was winning.

    Not long after,
    The cocoanut light came out,
It was the guardian angel that had come,
    It must’ve heard our shouts.

    We almost gave up,
    But that wasn’t right,
    Then out came the rainbows,
And those rainbows helped us fight.

Even though some lost the battle,
    The people who helped tried,
That’s why we clapped every Thursday,
Although it should have been every night.

We’ve had paths that are twisted and turned,
But how can we give up now?
We just have to try and try again,
    Until the virus is gone,
But I can tell you this,
    Life ain’t always a chocolate bon-bon.

Soon the sky turned teal again,
And the locked doors slammed open,
And even though not all is the same,
    Our hearts aren’t anymore broken.

Hopefully it will go fully normal soon,
But I can’t wish for that much,
At least most of it is the same,
And there’s nothing better than that,
I’m together with my family now,
And I can’t forget my cats.

  19. Hope seed

Hope starts as a little seed that’s in the heart.
Hope grows into a sage sprout that’s spreads out.
    Hope is a warm embrace.

Hope blooms like a fuchsia flower.
Hope brightens the soul with neon colours.
    Hope.

Hope flourish’s across the body and gives you a rose feeling.
    Hope chases away the fear.

  20. I can always hope

Soft is the sun and the gentle wind,
    And merry is the day,
Yet soon the world will be full of sin,
And hope will start to fray.

With wings of periwinkle and teal,
    The collectors know it’s rare,
    The gentle butterfly feels,
    Upset and longs for care.

Yet in the foliage comes a snap,
    A bang boom and crash,
The butterfly caught in the collectors trap,
To petrified to make a dash.

    The world grows cold,
    And hope is gone,
    Remembering times of old,
When it was hope that shone.

With fur of sandstone and amber,
    The hounds know its scent,
    The fox tries to remember,
    The hope that soon went.

Yet in the foliage comes a snap,
    A bang boom and crash,
The fox is caught in the hunter’s trap,
To petrified to make a dash.

It feels like the world’s paused in time,
    Like an old unstable boat,
Who knows if the world will ever be fine,
    I don’t know but I can hope.

  21. A CROW’S BEAT BY DAWUD KONE

A practised crow will train until the day
A caged crow askes for nothing,
But it still has hope to give it
    A beat

    Hope is something everybody
    Needs, But freedom is not
    Always given, Free caged crows
    Vote freely caged crows can
    Only go right or left.

    The scorching hot fire will
Beat the caged bird to it,
A free crow fights, but the caged one bites.

It shall be and would be
If the crow would want to
    Go slow. A caged crow
    Will sing for freedom.

    But here is a chance
    That could never go, so
    Keep going to have one
    Chance.

But so on, and so on
the Caged crow will want freedom
    And will get freedom
Crow will fight for his life
    BY Dawud

  22. Things aint fair today

    Things aint fair,
    There are people with freedom,
    And some with none,
    This world aint fair,

    I hope that things change,
It aint fair for the black,
    No matter what the race,
    Everybody is the same,

    Black aint bad,
    Just look and see,
    There just like you,
    A human race,

I hope that things get fair,
    For the black,
    That cry for freedom,
    In their cage of doom,

The black should have some rights,
    The rights to talk,
    The rights to rule,
And the rights to be free,
    I hope that people change,
There aint nothing wrong with the black,
    They only look different,
    And only want freedom,

    The golden rainbow,
    Could smash the floor,
    But it won’t,
If we don’t do something now,

    The world aint fair,
    There are people with freedom,
    And many with none,
    The world aint fair today.

  23. THE HOPE OF LOCKDOWN

    Once our lives were happy,
Without a worry in the world,
    But then something evil came,
That changed our lives once and for all.

    Coronavirus! Coronavirus!
    Covid wanted to attack!
    Coronavirus! Coronavirus!
    Covid was after us!

We were once like an Eagle,
    Rulers of the sky,
    But then something evil came,
That put us on the ground, in lockdown.

    Coronavirus! Coronavirus!
    Covid wanted to attack!
    Coronavirus! Coronavirus!
    Covid was after us!

But we had something Covid didn’t,
    Something very special,
It was like an egg hatching,
    Hatching into HOPE!
    We were fighting, fighting hard,
With the NHS on our side,
We were going to win this war,
    Nothing could stop us now!

    Coronavirus! Coronavirus!
    Covid couldn’t attack!
    Coronavirus! Coronavirus!
    Covid could not win!

    We will win this war,
    Nothing can stop us now!
We will have happiness once again,
As we are the problem solvers!

  24. THE MEANING OF HOPE

    I’m outside of Earth’s boundaries,
On the edge of the line,
    Watching our ocean planet,
    Cry and slowly die.

    Its 2040,
    The worst time for Earth.
    Viruses BLM Climate Change,
    The human race is cursed.

But what if I could change time,
Make sure we all had hope,
    It’s only cause we didn’t,
We’re on the edge of the rope.

    So I did go back,
    I went back through time,
    Back to 2020,
The year of all the crimes.

At the start of all of this,
    We had lemony sunshine,
With animals and fruit and flowers,
A hope like a bell chime.

    But later we got imprisoned,
    Locked and kept inside,
    With illnesses and deaths,
I just cried and cried and cried.

    A shadow loomed over us,
    Blocking all the love,
But we still held tight to hope,
And we thought it was really tough.

    Then BLM came in,
Racism, murder, it’s got to stop,
    Marches and chants and banners,
Leading this hope, from the top.

People almost forgot the global warming,
    All that climate change,
It got all lost, out of sight,
    It went out of range.
But no one forgot the sweet smelling hope,
    The light on the butterfly,
The light at the end of the tunnel,
The spirit that stands up high.

Hope is like the love of my family,
Hope is like the fiery sky.

Hope is like a never ending hug,
Hope is like a never ending story,
Hope is like autumn going into summer.

Hope is like a rainbow in the sky,
Hope is like winter going into spring,
Hope is like staying at home to be safe.

Hope is like people in need for a hug,
But we can’t hug anymore because of this virus
    Covid 19.

    We can’t hug,
    We can’t high five,
We can’t play in the playground,
    We can’t go to parks,
We can’t even go to each other’s houses.

We want to see other people,
But because of this pandemic we are all stuck at home,
We can’t see each other probably another year,
Heart breaking for some people are dying.

    Hope is like a rainbow
That shines brighter than a star.

    Hope is like an army
    That protects their own country.

    Hope is like a police
That makes sure everyone is okay.

    Hope is like a journey

Hope is like a path of luck
That leads you to the right path.

Hope is like a star shining in your eyes
That feels like reaching the star.

  29. Hope is like the sun,
Its gold light brings joy to all,
    Sometimes there’s no hope,
    Midnight fills with sorrow,

But hope is like a brick,
It’s strong and holds its ground,
    But if hope is lost,
Everything will be a slate fog,

    Hope is like a rainbow,
    Let’s all different colors in,
    Sometimes there’s no hope,
The butterscotch light shrinks in the storm,

But hope is a path paved with gold,
    It’s excepting and joyful,

  30. Hope

    Schools shut,
    6 months of waiting,
No traffic on the smoky roads,
    Nothing to do,

People died from the deadly virus,
    Rainbow windows give us hope,
    Clapping sounded all around,
Nurses are risking there lives to safe us,

    But hope gets us through,
A golden sun will rise again,
    Bright rainbows bring us joy,
Hope is the thing that gives life,

  31. Life is like a rollercoaster,
    Its ups and downs,
    The turn arounds,
    It’s all arounds

    But, life may betray you,
The dark days, the rain slapping you in your face.
The snow angles hearts turn to ice

When lockdown came, we all stayed home Except for the NHS
Those key workers, they helped us all,
    They helped save the world.

There was one day, when there was no mankind
    No war, just survival
This particular time, will never again rise
For the war of this world is unknown

People fight and people die, forever why?
    Why is there war?
    The unknown speech of death,
    Why is there war?

Homes have been destroyed, hope was there
Hope came and hope saved those hopeless
But never yet in extremity, did it ask of help from us?
Why was there war? We ask now
It came from greed and hatred and the end

  32. Rewind
    Watching from the beginning

The hand gropes towards the remote
The face fixed on the screen
The finger presses on the pause
The world turns to a nightmarish dream

    The screen zooms in closer
    Traffic lights burn bright
    But nothing is there waiting
No cars or trucks; no light

    The streets are empty
    The houses are full
    Nothing is moving
    Everything is still
Happiness is gone, sadness is strong
The world is frozen in time

    Getting in closer and closer
People on the streets are scarce
    All bearing crestfallen faces
    Things couldn’t get any worse

But our angel guardians stand close
A light in the long lasting dark
They are the help we need to survive
And keep those we love in our heart

    The streets are empty
    The houses are full
    Nothing is moving
    Everything is still
But happiness is there, however faint
The light is melting the ice

And inside our soul, is a flickering flame
Small but strong in the soot
And hope is the name of this honey-coloured glow
That keeps us alive as we look

The hope is here; here to stay
And get us through the rest
It will keep us safe as we lay down for bed
    Altogether in our comfy nest

    Stuck

The whole human race is stuck in lockdown,
As if the round world had shut down,
Most of London schools have shut,
As if the round had been cut.

This long twisty road is very unclear,
Hoping the end of this section is near,
Locked in our houses and trapped in our flats,
Everybody seems to be getting pet cats.

    Spotting rosy rainbows,
    Inside everybody’s windows,
The flame of hope inside of my tummy,
Is making me feel all warm and cosy.

We are only allowed out once a day,
Even though it is becoming May,
Now the world has entered hot, hot June,
The nights are getting shorter by every moon.

These lockdown rules are loosening now,
But I am really not sure how,
Able to go out in groups of six,
People are finally allowed to mix.

Starting what would be the summer holiday,
These horrible rules were not as bad as May,
We are legally allowed to leave the country,
You are now seeing happy me.

The end of lockdown is coming near,
This twisty road is becoming very clear,
The first day of school is finally here,
    There disappears my coronavirus fear.

The whole human race is out of lockdown,
As if the round world has woken up from shut down,
Most of the London schools have reopened,
As if the round world has awakened.
