  1. the book is telling you about how the bad things always comes to an end so its telling me wait for the rain to end and after will be a rainbow and i thing that is very nice

  2. I liked how they rhymed in the book. My favourite part Is the title because as It says, “Rain before Rainbows”. The rain sounds a bit negative while the Rainbow seems very positive. The author seemed to add some similes into the book, for example, he said “There was mountains to climb” some people might think they are actually climbing a mountain but others may have a different perspective and think that they are going through some difficult challenges. Overall, I think this book is amazing and very unique. I would give a rating of 9/10.

    1. A very thoughtful response especially regarding how places can be both literal and symbolic. So the mountain is a mountain but can also symbolise a struggle. Please remember to add your first name and school.

  3. Year 4 at Gillespie have really enjoyed the book Rain before Rainbows. They are writing their own stories inspired by the book. Today they used weaving to create their own rainbows. What do you think?

  4. It was a very nice book and the rhymes and metaphors were very well thought through and easily understandable.
I liked the ‘Rain before rainbows, Clouds before sun’ part the best; I thought it was very good because many people don’t recognise how important sadness is, and how if you don’ have any, you can’t understand emotions, meaning you can’t have any happiness either, so there has to be sadness before happiness – just as there is rain before rainbows, and clouds before sun. It was certainly extremely unique, in a good way. I wish there were more books like it.
    The illustrations were also beautiful!

I would rate it nine and a half out of ten.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It’s a very interesting idea to consider the need for sadness and how it is linked to happiness. Please remember to add your first name and school when posting.

  5. Its a wonderful book ,
I love the ending its beautiful like your expecting gold and you find something much better she is the happiest I have seen her in the entire book it really shows that if you work hard to get to your goal you can achieve something much better.
I also love the page where she is sleeping with her fox in the tent I think it really show natures beauty and how much she likes it here.

Its a beautiful book filled with mystery and shows how resilient the girl and her fox are i think the fox or whatever it is is more like a guardian angle than just an animal.

I did a picture of a rainbow in watercolour but I cant put it on here something has gone
wrong but at least you know i did it.

    Anna.
