Hope,
What a strange thing,
Like a candle,
It can blow out in the wind,
Or share its light with,
Anyone around it.
Hope,
What a misleading thing,
So many people confide in it,
In its spirit.
People feel free,
In its presence,
They feel complete.
As if everything will be fine,
Even though the harsh cold truth of reality
Is the exact opposite.
Hope,
What a wonderful thing,
If you think of life as an incomplete puzzle,
Hope fills up the gaps,
But only temporarily,
Some of us find the missing pieces,
But most of us never do.
So in the end,
What is hope?
Hope is a candle and
Hope is a spirit and
Hope is a puzzle.
Hope is the thing that will get us through
This storm.
And when it ends,
And when it does,
Hope will be the thing that will be with us again.
But most importantly,
Hope is the thing that lives at the bottom of my heart
In the little girl that hides inside of me.
So Hope, in the end, is me.
Priyanshi Gupta (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)
That is Hope
Hope is everywhere,
Just believe in it,
And it will come,
That is Hope.
Hope is everywhere,
Even when you’re feeling down and desolate,
Isolated from the world,
Feel like all the life has been drained out of you,
There’s still a lightbulb glowing,
That is Hope.
Hope is everywhere,
Also a part of you,
Never giving up,
Always trying again,
That is Hope.
Sanya Garschagen (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)
Think about Hope.
What is it?
Is it like a book,
Where the good guys win
And everything is well?
Or like a bird,
Soaring gracefully on the wind
Not a care, no boundaries?
Or like a candle,
Which never burns out
Always a bright spark?
Or a tree or a flower,
Drooping every autumn
Then Hope brings them back to the beauty of Spring?
Well, I’ll tell you the answer
Hope is
A book
A bird
A candle
A flower
Hope is anything and everything
You just have to see it
Somewhere inside you
Because it’s always there
Just find it.
A wonderful thing,
It keeps us going,
And Keeps Life flowing,
A fantastic thing,
Hoping A Tree will give us breath,
Hoping A Life won’t end in death,
An extravagant thing,
Like a butterfly,
Or a magpie,
A magnificant thing,
A thing that is everywhere,
A thing that is anywhere,
A thing called HOPE.
HOPE
What is hope you say
it is an amazing thing to own
don’t worry you don’t need to pay
Remember you are not alone
When problems don’t seem right
everyone has it from time to time
Hope always shines bright
dont worry it’s not a crime
Hope is always in you
it’s like a shooting star
it never turns blue
it’s not a bizarre
Hope is the one that keeps us flowing
it’s the one that keeps us together
Unitedly we will stay glowing
forever and ever
hope is wonderful,
don’t you think?
hope never gives up,
keep on believing,
hope is extraordinary,
don’t you think?
hope always amazes you,
hope can give you super powers like a super hero,
hope brings us together,
together we can make hope feel like home,
hope is a word we should learn,
hope is the only choice for the world to evolve,
never ever give up hope,
because that’s the only way the world should go.
Hope
Glowing pale like moonlight,
Graceful, fluttering, soaring, gliding,
Softening hardships, making you happy,
A pinprick of warmth; a light in the darkness.
Burning inside you, helping you cope,
Flaring in the wind, fading in the storm,
Giving light to, giving warmth to,
And lighting a spark in: others.
It dances, it twirls, it flickers,
When you think, and when you pray,
Forever hiding inside you; being you,
Inside your heart, inside your mind.
A prayer, a thought, a feeling,
A heart, a shard, a moonbeam,
A candle, a match, a firework:
Ever-changing hope.
Bella Dickins-Woodhall (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)
Hope
Somewhere in your heart
Lies a hidden hope
You have probably never noticed it
Especially when you can’t cope
When you feel glum and desolate
Isolated from the rest of the world
In a-never-ending-abyss
Like the whole world is upon your shoulders
Hope is exuberance
Hope is laughter
Hope is joy
Hope is your creation
Maddie Michaelides (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)
Hope
You can’t see hope with the naked eye,
You can’t even see it with glasses ,
Hope shelters you from doubt,
Hope can happen in the darkest abyss.
Hope is like the wind,
Hope is like the sea,
Like them it will last longer than either you or me,
Like a goddess you can’t see or touch,
but whose presence you can feel and trust.
If you lose hope, you lose courage,
You lose confidence – you lose everything.
Life is full of struggle but hope brings you up
Hope helps you get through it all.
Hope isn’t eternal but it stays with you for eternity…
Rose Brooks-Velasquez (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)
Hope is hope
Like how pasta is pasta
So if I like pasta then I like hope.
So hope is good
Hope is not bad
Hope helps us all the time
Even when we’re sad.
So keep on eating pasta
And keep on counting on hope
Hope will never let you down
Like when you’re cleaned with a bar of soap.
Tristan Shackleford (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)
We use hope all the time,
Everywhere we go, hope is there,
Hope follows you everywhere.
Hope is a feeling of aspiration and desire,
Hope makes you feel like you’re in heaven,
Hope takes you on a journey anywhere.
But in the end, hope is everywhere.
Jack Swanne (Thornhill Primary School – Y6 Meteors)

Hope,
A mystery,
Like magic,
Swirling around you,
Waltzing and prancing.
Hope,
The smiles from the people around you,
Shimmery stardust,
Falling into your hands,
Glittering like the sun.
Hope,
Like nature,
Always a good side,
Where birds twitter,
And the sun shines.
Hope,
When you see your family,
Your friends,
All care for you,
Knowing that you are loved.
Hope,
The best gift anyone could ask for,
The thing that keeps us living,
The torch leading the way,
Towards Hope

Hope is in the air,
Hope comes when you care.
hope is everywhere,

Hope can fill a heart of joy,
Hope can fill a whole class.

Minutes go by…Tick…Tock…
Hours go by…Tick…Tock…
Glancing at the clock
Staring out of the window,
It was filled with leaves dancing in the streets.
The wind howled while the tree branches swayed.
Wanting to go outside but deep down something tells me it’s IMPOSSIBLE.
Maybe watching cartoons will make me feel better…
CLICK! The TV turned on in a flash,
100,000 deaths already?
I turn off the TV and cuddled with the blanket on my bed.
Why? Why does the world have to end NOW?
Feeling miserable for what seemed like 3 million days inside,
I went downstairs, gloom and irritation washed over me when I heard mum say.
“Sweetie! I know that you’ve been finding quarantine hard
but…would you like to get some ice cream?”
Yes please! My grin was bigger than the Amazon Forest,
wider then The Atlantic Ocean,and
taller than Mount Everest!
“well promise me one thing,
always have hope.
The world is having a hard time right now but we NEED
people like you to stay positive!”
To this day, I still believe that hope is REAL and you should too!(Thornhill- Year6 Asteroids)
