  1. ladies and gentlemen live on the left side because we have the nicest houses, clearsest water and free food we also have the best outfits and the warmest weather our houses has just been built.

    1. Ladies and Gentlemen,I am here to lecture you about homes on the bridge. Not only it has to fit your needs it also has to fit your personality.

  2. I liked how the artist used colours in the manner that he did I also like that he mad e hte image look realistic and how he only showed the important things

  3. How did the poor people get food? Did the rich get servants and I love your drawing! Is it important to you?

  4. We started our Writing Through Art project yesterday. The children wrote some fantastic speeches which they will present to the class today.

  5. Live on the right side as right has the might! It also has all the best theaters, cafes and it’s cheaper to live here as it’s not as affluent an area.

  6. Live on the right because they have theaters and its better because if there is a fire you can easily escape.

  7. I like the Old London Bridge because Claude de Jongh managed to paint the reflections from the river which looks realistic. I don’t like that the houses on the left hand side are in the river. I think people were silly to build their homes so close to the water.

    1. Hi Max! We love the Old London Bridge painting too!

I can see what you mean, what if the building were to flood?
Like today, maximising a central part of London to build houses due to overcrowding and the need to live as close to action was all part of the course when living in London. It might have been that they didn’t have a choice!

Have you tried painting reflections in water?

  8. A question for Michel:Why did the painter want to paint this?Did he do it emotionally or just for fun?

-From Felicity,a student from Canonbury Primary School

    1. Hi Felicity, de Jongh was a professional artist; it was his job. He visited London to paint the scene.
If you could paint anywhere, where would you choose?

  9. I think this painting by Claude De Jongh is extraordinary. It shows a lot of different features including the left side of the bridge, the right side of the bridge, and of course the bridge itself, and if you look closely, you can see a bunch of chopped of heads sitting on these sharp metal rods. I personally enjoyed learning about this painting because it looks so realistic.

  10. Hi,my name is Andrew and I want to ask Michael a question what nation does this painting come from? And, Why did De Jongh make this painting?

Andrew. A kid from Canonbury Primary School.

    1. Hi Andrew,

De Jongh was a Dutch painter from Utrecht. I think de Jongh wanted to capture a scene in London but he changed certain details.

  11. I like it a lot. It is a painting in 1630 and I don’t know when it was painted that’s my question for you Michael Walsh.

  12. Guys and girls, I think you should live in the right side of the bridge because it is more affordable and every house is so cheap. If you don’t like your house, you can change your house because it is flat back houses. I was here for about 7 years. Do you think I don’t know anything about this?
