  1. To Be a Rap Star
    That’s it I’ve had it
Tired of being ignored with a wink on the side
I’m tired of being told what old men should do
Going to start taking life on the flea..or is that the fly

I’m going to hit the streets of the city
And be known as that cool guy that raps
After I add a tad bit more Poligrip
So my dentures can get down with that

I’ll get me a ball cap and turn it sideways
My pants already hang down past my crack
I’ll even learn the latest catch phrase
Like, Hey dude..what’s up wit dat?!

Think I’ll even rhinestone my walker
For that little extra bling, bling
They’ll say check out that crazy rapper daddy-o
Man that cat can really swing

I’ll keep the lyrics clean like I do my diaper
That’s why I bring my nursie with me
After all she’s a wonderful wiper
Don’t worry I pay the extra wiping fee

I’ll also get her to hold up the cue cards
Since my memory over the years has waned
No longer to be known as that old white cracker
Beating JZ at his own game

I’ll get jiggy with it every chance I get
As I fizizzile my way to the top
I’ll be bigger than that guy with the candy name
That young whipper snapper will melt in the hands of this rapping GrandPop

    1. Hi Pierre,

Thank you for sharing this with us. Did you write it yourself or is it someone else’s poem?

It is very cleverly assembled and made me smile.

  2. Said the little boy , “sometimes I talk too much”
said the old man, “I do that too”
The little boy whispered, “I bite my nails”
“I do that too” laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, “I often shout at people ”
the old man nodded, “so do I “.
“But worst of all said the boy, “it seems there’s no one for me ”
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand. “I know what you mean,” said the little old man.

The old man whispered, ” would you like to take me too?”

  4. “Sometimes I laugh uncontrollably.” Said the little boy.
” I wish I could.” Replied the sad old man.
” I went to the dentist they said I have good teeth.” Gleamed the little boy.
The sad old man dismally said ” Lucky you!”
” I can’t wait to grow old.” Exclaimed the little boy.
“No you don’t!” Shouted the sad old man.
“Yes I do! But I cant because I have… ” Cried the little boy.
The sad old man interrupted,” So do I.”

  5. Said the little boy,”Sometimes I wish I had more company,”
Said the old man ‘I wish that two!’
The little boy whispered ‘I’m sometimes too late for the loo’
“I’m very late as swell as you!”laughed the little old man.
Muttered the little boy,”Sometimes I feel lonely!”
“Tell me that!”he said with a sigh” I only have my baloney which I eat slowly,”
“But worst of all I’m ignored,”said the boy sadly
” I wonder when I won’t,” exclaimed the old man.

Said the old man, ”I do that too.”
The little boy whispered, ”I forget to flush the toilet”
”I do that too,” laughed the little old man
Said the little boy, ”I often play with my food”
The old man nodded, ”So do I.”
”But worst of all, ”said the boy, ”it seems I get bullied every day .”
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
”I know what you mean, ”said the little old man

“I do that too!”laughed the old man.

“I do that too!” chuckled the little old man.
Said the little girl ” I often break things.”
The old man nodded ” So do I.”
” But worst of all,” said the little girl,” it seems I don’t fit in.”
And she felt the warmth of a wrinkled hand,
” I know what you mean,” said the little old man.

  9. Dear Ben,
I was walking down the hill, towards the river.I thought i saw a boy, with no shadow quivering, sun beaming down on him.I called him over but I got no answer, why was he there? Why is he wearing old fashioned clothing? What is he doing and why is he here at sunset and sunrise?
I was worried because i always take this route and i used to take it when i was about his age as well.

  10. He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring’d with the azure world, he stands.

    The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

I really enjoy this poem because the language is very precise. It also can be interpreted in many different ways which I like because it means that you may have an opinion about the poem and someone else can have a different opinion, which makes it interesting to discuss.

    1. Hi Edie,

I really like this poem too. It’s by Tennyson and called The Eagle. I like the suspense of the still eagle.

  11. I like the following poem

It’s called stop all the clocks by W.H. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone.
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

    Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East, and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought got that love would last forever: I was wrong.

    The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
    Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

I really like this poem because it is very emotional and sad. It describes death very dramatically using precise metaphors and adjectives. It makes you realise how strong someone’s feelings can be when they are devastated by death.

  12. Goat Goat, walking in the night,
    Searching for food,none in sight,
Goat hearing humans chopping goats and sending them by boat,

Goat Goat walking in the morning ,
    Goat he wants to fly,
    Goat he’s going to die,

Goat Goat he sails on a boat,
Goat his boat crashes and he try’s to float,
Goats are being used as coats.
