    Dear Diary,

As soon as I woke up, I started to sew a jumper for my Dad. I decided to sew some stripes onto the jumper and I thought the colour could be blue because my Dad loves the colour blue. As quickly as I could, I started to sew. Five minutes later, I decided to read some French books so I can learn to speak French fluently. I have practiced so many times. Moments later, I went downstairs and I got my guitar. I wanted to try to make a tune. My Father, who went to France, told me to always make tunes for people. Because I missed my Dad, I made a tune for my Dad. After twenty minutes, my hands started to ache so I decided to have a nap.

Moments later, I woke up and I rushed downstairs. I remembered that I was going to do a painting. I decided to do my Dad’s painting. I wanted to copy it out however I wanted to do it a bit differently. The painting, which was terrific, was colourful. The painting had a tree on it and the leaves were on the floor. Also, the branches were bent down. I decided to paint a tree where no branches were bent down. I started to draw it. It took me an hour and a half to finish the painting.

In the future, I am looking forward to my Father returning from France to look at my painting and put it on the wall. Also, I want to go on a boat ride with my Father.

  2. Thursday 7th June 1672
    Dear Diary,

Suddenly, I woke up to the smell of fish and cheese. I ran upstairs like a cheetah because, I had to quickly brush my teeth. I ran downstairs like a bullet from a gun. I did that because I wanted to get my breakfast first so I can get 4 pieces of cheese and 2 pieces of fish (not that I wanted to be greedy or anything.)
I ate my breakfast as quick as a can because I had some plans for my nice day. My dad (Johannes Vermeer) was talking to me when I was about to go upstairs and he said: ‘‘Come downstairs, let me paint a really fantastic portrait of you. It’ll only take 3 hours!’’. Then I explained that I had made plans. ‘‘Dad, I’ve got plans anyway in the next hour, so wait a second dad how long is it going to take?’’ ‘‘3 hours’’ replied dad. ‘‘Ok dad, let me get my guitar’’.
‘‘Ready, because you’re going to have to stay in one place, don’t move a muscle’’. 1 hour later I told my dad to stop so I could have a little cheese break. I was so relieved that the 30 year war was over. ‘‘Dad it’s the cheese break’’ I asked calmly, ‘‘Can I have 6 slices of cheese please?’’ I kindly asked ‘‘Yes you may’’ he replied softly.
I ate 9 slices by accident and then a ran back to my place with my mouth full of cheese, I picked up my guitar and I was back to my position for the next 2 hours and 55 minutes. Luckily 2 hours and 25 minutes went past and it left me with 30 minutes. But the thirty minutes felt like six hours because time was going really gradually. My mum came in and I glanced at her but my dad was painting my head, so he told me to look to the left where I was looking. ‘‘Dad you are going to be famous, and rich as well, because if you publish this painting people will like to meet a great painter like you. Thanks for painting me, got to go to see my friend across the street’.
I am glad my dad finished the painting, I am looking forward to the next painting he will do……

  3. I’m impressed with how Hanif has tried to use two adjectives to describe nouns in his diary entry, instead of just one. Can you find any examples?

  4. Aneeshah has tried to include lots of thoughts and feelings in her diary entry. How do you think the ‘guitar player’ felt when she was distracted?

  5. Bronte class at Duncombe really enjoyed doing their diary entries this week. Here are two from Nya and Sharnay. They really tried hard with their writing and were very imaginative with their ideas.

  6. My class wrote some superb diary entries this week which ranged from the guitar players boyfriend to a mysterious guest who didn’t show her face but sang along to the guitar playing!
We have been building up a display on our classroom wall of our responses to each piece of art. I will post some photographs of our display this week. The idea is that every child will have one written response displayed over the course of the project. We are really looking forward to our Kenwood visit on 11th June!
