      1. I think the painting is creative and old. I love how the painting is quite odd in a way, how she is not in the middle and is not looking straight ahead. This is a fantastic painting.

  1. Hi David Walsh!

My teacher Richard Orme has shown a picture by Vermeer. It was called the guitar player! I like it because it looks very nice! Usually sometimes pieces of art have symbols so maybe the guitar is one symbol!

  2. This picture made me think up lots of questions like what is she looking at? Is she at her house? Why is she dressed so smartly? How old is she? What are her other hobbies apart from guitar playing and is she rich?

  3. STAR POST

    Well done Jemima.

You have shown us sometimes asking questions regarding a painting can be a helpful way to understand them.

  4. Here is our writing wall ‘WTA’ display … we are building it up each week!

    1. That looks super Gillespie… it must be exciting to discover whose work is going to be shared on the wall.

  5. I really wonder what she is looking at, maybe she’s just day dreaming whilst she plays or being distracted by someone?

  6. I love the way Vermeer made the person not in the middle of the painting because not everything can be in the centre of attention and it was very odd because most paintings do not do that.
