  1. I like Kyffin Williams’ paintings as many of them capture the colours and landscapes of North Wales where my family is from. This one is called ‘Farmer and dog Penrhiwiau’. I like that it looks almost cartoon-like but the colours are very much like real life in this area.

    1. Hi Bob Jones
That picture must be inspired also that look very imaginative

      Who created this picture?

      1. It was done by an artist called Kyffin Williams who was from North Wales. He worked as a teacher for a while in Highgate School.

  2. My favourite painting is called The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. The like the relaxing and soothing colours of the landscape. I find the images of the clocks melting very interesting as I it makes me wonder what message the artist is trying to convey.

I like what you’ve done I love what art work you’ve produced
      GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    4. I think this painting is very intresting. The background is well painted as it looks very eye-catching. I think the objects in the centre look quite surreal and makes you form your opinions on why the artist has painted in this way. I definitly argree with your comment.

  3. This is my favourite player Lionel Messi. A fantastic new project undertaken by German illustrator Simon Prades, who is illustrating one defining moment per day from the latest drama from World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

Including the likes of Mario Balotelli’s winner v England, the genius of Leo Messi and Brazil’s dodgy penalty v Croatia, there’s bound to be lots more great illustrations to come. I like this painting because it looks very colourful!

  4. My favourite picture is The Wave by Hokusai.

I like this picture because of the drama and movement in it. I also like the different shades of blue and grey that the artist has used.

I wonder if the people on the boat are scared, or if this is a usual day at sea.

    Lucy – teacher at Duncombe

    1. We love this picture because of its many different shades of blue. An artistic touch!

    2. I think your picture is very calming and makes you think a lot. It is like you are actually there by the seashore watching the waves get bigger and bigger.

  5. Hey Bob Jones, we thought your picture of choice was spectacular, so we decided to search more of Kyffin Williams’ paintings and found this one. Me and Ihsan (my friend) like this picture because the shades of colour have a touching and enchanting point of view!

Although, we do not exactly know what the picture is called so can you, or anybody else, help us?

-Harvey Cullen and Ihsan Ahmed (Pupils at Duncombe Primary School)

    1. Hi Harvey and Ihsan! Great that you like his paintings too! I can’t find the title of this one, however my Aunt is an expert on his work so I’ll ask her and get back to you about it.

It would be great if you could someday visit the mountains of North Wales, then you could see what inspired his art.

  10. While visiting the Tate Britain with my class I discovered this portrait. It has become one of my favourite art pieces. I found the story behind it very interesting. It is said that the two pictures in this portrait are of twin sisters who were born on the same day, married the same day and had children on the same day.

It often makes me wonder how connected twins are in real life?

    1. This is a Marvellous painting! I love the connection between the two sisters, and their slightly different characters! One of them (on the left) has an evil glint in her eye, whereas the other looks pale and worried, as if she’s hiding something.

I wonder if they dislike, or like each other?

    2. WOW!! They had children on the same day! I read that the artist is unknown! One of the ladies eyes are brown and the others were blue-so apparently they are not identical!

  13. Our favourite painting is The Sheaf, by Henri Matisse. It was presented at Tate Modern a few months ago, and was part of the exhibition, Matisse Cut Outs. When Matisse could no longer paint, he chose colours and shapes for his many assistants to cut out and stick on.
