  1. A canal in winter

I am a little boy, I have a dad but my mum passed away.
It was the day before my birthday I was heart broken. My dad is poor so we had to move and I am now huddled with my father as we walk upon a frozen canal. It was horrifying and cold we did not have warm clothes. But to be fair there was not a lot of shops. The sky was as dark as a cave. I thought it was going to thunder it did but I was in the house. It blow down that was scary and that was the end of the adventure.

  2. A Canal in winter

The dark clouds rolled over the gloomy canal, I stepped into the freezing cold environment. The bitter wind smacked the dead unhappy trees with such force that the branches snapped like the crack of a gun. All around me there were people dragging heavy loads across the frozen over canal and drooping their heads. Only the children that were playing in the soft snow were happy. It seemed almost impossible that the children could be so happy when everyone else was sad.

  3. A canal in the winter

As the wind blew in the snow covered sky, the spiky branches on the oak wood trees fell to the ground with a thud. The houses were worn and struggling against the monstrous winds. I felt as cold as ice. As my teeth chattered I covered my face with my scarf. My hands shivered with cold. Every time I breathe, a puff of white breath appears and lingers for a moment in the frozen air. My sleepy eyes fight to stay open as I had barely slept last night…

  4. A canal in winter
As the vicious, monstrous wind howled against me, my cloak flew out like bird’s wings. I dragged myself along to get on with my tiresome work in the freezing, slushy snow. My fingers froze so I could barely move them: it was like they were going to drop off! Tumbledown houses crept upon me like a coal black cave. Trees towered over me like rough mountains. The people around me were lucky because they had loads of layers on them but I had hardly anything wrapped around myself. Excitedly, the children were playing with the dazzling, white snow whilst the adults were exhausted with their work.

  6. The howling wind blew against my rosy red face as I plodded on through thy high snow. All the children were having a good time but the adults were screaming. With the trees gazing at me, I wrapped my scarf around my face, praying that it would stop. People as far as the eye can see were suffering from the cold-apart from the children. The children were as joyful as can be, they were playing on their sledges and joking about. The awful sound of screaming echoed through the houses.

  7. A CANAL IN WINTER
The bitter wind swept across my glum face as I packed my heavy bags to leave my once peaceful village. The withered trees were bare. The houses were broken and rundown. The only people enjoying themselves were the small infants, skating across the thin ice. I began to feel frostbite forming on my shivering fingers. I wanted to cry out in pain but I kept calm. We looked across the horizon to see nothing but the only thing that was seen was the graceful bird swooping. All of us knew that this was going to be a long trip. Our heads drooped as we left our homes. There was no doubt that the journey ahead would belong and dangerous.

  8. A canal in winter

As the bitter wind howls through the gnarled, ancient trees and tumbledown houses, I look up at the ashen grey sky, wistfully wishing for this day to be over. This day that has been dragging on for many hours and seem to be eternal. In the cold and desolate winter, I see the young children doing their back-breaking chore, and adults dully going about their work. I am wrapped up ever so tight against the frozen winds, but still, the winds chill me to my ice cold bones until I shiver like a leaf blowing in the monstrous, winter gales.

  9. This painting makes me isolated because adults are working, with themselves bent against the cold and the trees are lifeless. The sky makes me feel grumpy because the sky colour is really dark .The canal is frozen and so makes me feel sorry for the people working in the cold.

  10. I was chilled to the bone as I buried my head in my scarf to turn away from the sky witch was heavy with snow and a gloomy ash grey . My breath froze as it left my mouth and entered the freezing air. Today was a biting cold day and we were in the coldest part of the town the great frozen canal. The huge thick layer of ice we were standing on always seeming to move. To be alive. But it wasn’t, I knew it wasn’t it was as hard as steel and as thick as the mountain is tall and you could still see the murky water beneath. Constant shivers ran down my spine, my body aching with cold and rubbing my hands to warm them . Helplessly I looked up at the gnarled grey trees blackened with age, seeming to reach towards me. I curled away from the evil grasp of the cold .

  11. This painting makes me feel lonely because the trees are leafless, the sky is gloomy and the people are feeling miserable. The colours are dark and that makes me feel alone because the way it is set out and were the colours are placed. I think the artist made this mood because in winter the people feel cold, tired and miserable.

  12. The canal in winter makes me feel kind of happy and lonely at the same time because even though it is cold the people are stile copping .It also makes me feel cold as I think the artistes very good and makes you cold just looking at it and I think the children in the painting look happy skating, but however some people might think it is sad as some of the people in the painting look quite gloomy and hunched up against the cold.

  13. When I arrived at the frozen canal I glared up at the faded, gloomy grey sky. Children happily skated across the thick, smooth ice and, underneath the swirls of ice were layering and shining. People were quietly muttering. It was really annoying! I was so cold I blew on my hands to warm them up also my feet felt like ice. I felt as if an icey breeze was running through my veins!

  14. Winter in the Canal
I woke up this morning and decided to go to the canal. When I got there it was around midday and it was so cold! The sky was full of grey clouds and the lifeless trees silhouetted against the sky. Slowly, I walked across the glistening ice. It was as cold as the arctic beneath my feet. In the distance I could hear the quiet muttering of adults. Some of the children in my class were ice skating, I wanted to join them but I could hardly move it was so cold! My teeth were chattering as I wrapped my second scarf around my neck.

  15. Here is Iftekar’s work. He used his senses to paint the scene in the reader’s mind.

Me and my family, were getting ready to set out. Unfortunately my wife and my son groaned and moaned. I tried to explain how much fun we could have but, they wouldn’t listen. I saw other family’s having the time of their life. In the distance, houses squished together as if they were hugging each other. A boy hopped about in the crushed mushy soil which flicked up on my face and my new winter coat. A horse near by neighed and neighed, feeling the cold. My wife was able to calm is down. People chattered to each other and they were happy, playing games but my family sat there frozen to the spot. They wouldn’t budge an inch. I was helpless!
