  1. Where’s my brother, Mother?
    He couldnt have disapeared?
He dosen’t have magical powers, so how could he go?
I looked in his room Mother?
    Where did his things go?
    How could he go?
    His car is gone?
Do you know where he has gone?
He can’t have gone far, we live in the country side?
    Where did he go?

    1. Hi Ridhwan,

Thank you for sharing your poem.
I like the way you’ve continued the theme of “missing” that we meet in Causley’s poem and also the use of questions.

      Keep up the hard work.

  2. Where Is Sweety?

    Where is my sister, Mother?
    Where is Sweety?
    I asked my brother,
But he doesn`t have an idea.

    I looked under her bed,
But all I saw was Ted.
Why was her favourite toy there?
    Why was her room bare?

Why Mother, why are you keeping secrets?
    I need to know,
    Where my sister is.
So tell me where is Sweety?

    1. HI Sabirah,

You manage to attain a desperate tone to your poem. I like your choice of name like “Lulu” it sounds like a pet name and this gives the poem it’s sense of affection.

      Promising work. Keep it up.

  3. Where is my Pet?

Sorry Madame, Have you seen my pet?
    She has canine teeth,
    And breathes like an engine.

Excuse me Sir, Have you seen my pet?
    She is called Bell,
All I have left of her is her smell.

Mummy, Mummy, what has happened to Bell?
All I have left of her, is her bed filled with fluff,
    Enough to make me sniff.

    Madame?
    Mother?
    Sir?

    1. Hi Nicole,

I really like your ending when you bring the three characters together. Did you think Lulu was a pet animal? Other students have thought that before.

Imaginative work Nicole. Keep on experimenting.

  4. Father, where is she ?

Father, have you seen my pet ?
Father, can you tell me ?
Have you seen her cute little face ?
I can’t find her anywhere, I’ve looked everywhere.

    It’s like she’s gone
She has a cute little bell
Father please, have you seen her ?

Father, why are you crying ?
Please Father, tell me where did Bella go ?
Father, why is her bed empty ?
What has happened to her ?
    I miss her, father.
I want her back , please father, please father.

    1. HI Melisa,

I like your poem because it seems like the speaker of the poem knows what’s happened to her pet but asks questions as they can’t bring themselves to face the truth.

Thank you for sharing your poem with us.

  5. Where is my Horse?
    Where is my Horse?
    Has she ran away?
She is not in her stable
    Where she used to lay.

All that is left is her food, water and hay,
If I have to look for her, I would look for her all day.
    Her saddle is still there
    and so is her hat,
    Where is she?
She even left her toy cat.

    But one thing that’s weird
    One thing I know,
She couldn’t have took the photo of us
She couldn’t have done it alone.
I love her, without her I won’t go out
and I know she loved me too
    I really have no doubt.

    1. Hi Mahira,

It’s good to see you try to copy Causley’s rhyming style but creating your own rhyme scheme. As you can see it’s difficult to do but I think you’ve made an impressive attempt.

      Keep up the hard work.

  6. Where has Father gone, Ma?
    Where has he gone?
His hat has gone and his coat has gone.
    Even his favourite swan.

    Where has Father gone, Ma?
    Where has he gone?
    Why has his horse gone?
    Why has it gone?

    Why has he disapeared?
    I miss his prickly beard,
    His head was bare,
    but I didn’t care.
    Where has he gone?

Why are you not telling me?
    Why will you not share?
You turn your head and make your bed.
Why is your room so bare?
You make it look like you just don’t care.
Where has Father gone? Ma where has he gone?
His hat is gone and his coat has gone
    Even his favourite swan.

    1. Hi Janet,

It’s an interesting change to make the missing person an adult and a Dad. As a reader we start to quickly guess possible reasons for the Dad’s absence. I like the way you’ve tried to use rhyme to structure your poem. Well done for taking on a difficult task.

      Keep up the hard work.

  7. I want a cat now!

    I want a cat, NOW!
    Where is it, Mum?
    It’s my birthday,
    and I don’t see it
    So, where is it mum?

    Why is there no noise?
    Why is it so silent?
I want to hear a MEOW!
    Why are there colourful presents?
NOT a black and white cat?

Why do you buy useless presents?
    They’re boring,
And why do you waste your money?
    With useless presents

    So, make me happy,
    By buying a cat, NOW!
I went to bed thinking I am dreaming,
When I woke up, I went downstairs,
And what do I see, more useless presents
So, buy me my cat, NOW!!

    1. Hi Tahsin,

Your poem is very different to Causley as your speaker is very demanding while Causley’s seems confused. I’d imagine your speaker is quite young; maybe 6?

  8. What has happened to Dylan
What has happened to Dylan Mummy?
There is nothing in his room but his old pair of shoes
And by the side it’s dusty and his picture is gone
    Where has he gone?
I miss him mummy, where has he gone ?
    Where could he be?
    Dylan where are you?
    Mummy is crying
    We all miss you
We want you back come, home Dylan x

    1. Hi Danielle,

Thank you for sharing your poem with us.

I like the way you shift the poem in the last 3 lines as we find out the Mummy is crying … We’re left wondering what is making her weep.

      Keep up the hard work.

  9. Where’s Jack Dad ?
    And where’s his car?
    His clothes are gone
Yet his phone is still here,
    Where’s Jack Dad ?
    And why isn’t he here?
He wasn’t here in the morrning
You said he was at a friends,
    Dad where’s Jack ?
    Where is he?

    1. HI Kevin,

Thank you for sharing your poem. Do you think making both characters male rather than Causley’s females change the poem much? It’s interesting in your poem that you chose to not let us see how the Dad is feeling. This leaves a sense of mystery.

  10. Where on Earth is my cat, Mother?
    Where is Tiddles?
There’s nothing but a colar on Tiddles bed
And by its side is his litter tray
Why is Tiddles fur on the window side? It was his favourite thing
The curtain has been torn into pieces
Where on Earth is Tiddles, Mother?
Where is he, Mother? Where is my magnificant cat?

    1. Hi Jeremy,

Thank you for sharing your poem with us.

What inspired you to make the poem about a cat? How do you think it changes the tone of the poem from the original?

Thank you for sharing with us and keep up the hard work.

  11. Where is Daddy, Mummy?
    What has happened to Dad?
There’s nothing in his bed other than a old tie
It’s also beside an alarm clock
    Why is his money gone?
    Why is his window open?
    I truly do not understand
Please Mummy tell me what happened?

    1. Hi Sumaya,

I could imagine this as a note to the mum. I like the objects you’ve used to describe the Dad. They quickly establish an image of him.

      Keep up the hard work.

  12. What is friendship?
Is it a feeling between me and you?

    Sometimes I feel happy,
    Sometimes sad,
    Sometimes moody,
    Sometimes gloomy
    Do you feel the same?

    Why do you sigh?
    Are you sad?
Do you think i’m a bad friend?
    Do you listen?

    Friendship

    1. Hi Amber,

Thank you for sharing your poem with us. It’s good to see you branching out and choosing your own theme and structure. The use of questions work really well to involve us as readers in the poem.

  13. What has happened to polle, Jojo?
    What has happened to Polly?
    There’s nothing in my bed
    But my other furry friends

Why can’t i find him, Jojo
    Why can’t i find him?
You have to go and find him
    Jojo i am very scared

What have i done to you Jojo
What have i done to you
    If you really care
    You would find him
    I really do care
    About him PLEASE!!

    1. Hi Arianna,

Thank you for sharing your poem with us.

Your poem is a mystery and I’m left wondering who or what is Polly and who is JoJo.

      Keep up the hard work.

  14. what is love ?
    Is it kind?
    Is it mean?
    Can it be seen?

Is love like the rose blossoming in spring?
Does love make you feel like she is your queen and you are the king?

Is love like snowballs in the winter?
Because we all know that men can be a splinter.

    What is love?

    1. Hi Mason,

That’s a lovely poem. The questions work really well and I like the variety of your sentence length. You have some interesting similes in the second stanza too. I’m interested in the idea of men as a “splinter”…

Promising work. Keep working on developing your poetry.

  15. What is wrong with the sky, mother?
What is wrong with the sky?
    It’s all gone black
Not a single patch of blue
    And everyone outside is petrified

    Why is everyone terrified, mother?
I don’t see it do you?
Please tell me what’s wrong with them
Don’t stay silent as if your mute

What has happened to the nature, mother?
    Why is nothing still pure?
I want it to go back to normal now
What would you think yes or no?

  16. Why is it so quiet, mother?
    Why is it so quiet?
There’s nothing on the street, but a pile of bricks,
And at the side a rubbish mix.

Why are all the windows open,
    The curtains flying free?
    There’s only animals running around,
Why can’t it be like it used to be?

    Why don’t you listen?
And why don’t you tell me?
    What’s going on?
Why are you sad all the time?

I heard a big bang last night?
    What was it?
You always say it’s my imagination or a dream?
    But why?
Do you know what’s going on?

Why do you wander all the time?
    Why are you so scared?
Why is it so quiet, mother?
    Why is it so quiet?

  17. What has happened to the ball?

What has happened to the ball, mother?
What has happened to the ball?
    There’s nothing under the table
    But a piece of paper
And by it’s side a stall

    Why is there a hole,mother?
    The sharp edges pointing freely,
    And only a flattened ball,
    where my ball nearly…

Why are you not speaking mother?
And why do you nod your head?
    And why are you saying
    Go to bed?

  18. What has happened to Rosie mother?
    What has happened to Rose?
There is nothing in her room but a soggy teddy bear,
    Striking an unusual pose.

Why is the phone dangling on the floor?
And why is the back door not shut?
Why is the kichen all empty and dirty?
    I wonder with a tut.

Why do you turn your head mother?
Your mouth speechless and empty without no say,
Why do you blow your nose with a tissue?
    And begin to walk away.

    I don’t understand you mother,
    Not one little bit.
    Talk me into this situation,
    PLEASE DON’T HIT!!!

I want to understand you mother,
    Without a doubt.
What has happened to Rosie mother?
    What has happened to Rose?

  19. i see a face in the hall way
it looks at me, i run away
    my walls are narrow
    i can barely see,
    it creeps up behind me
    i run to my mum
and she said its just a dream

    what is there mum?
    what is there?
    she said nothing
i go back to my room
    i ask why?
then i hear a big boom!!
i hide under my bed and cry
my door open a little bit
    and my mum walks in,
    and put me into bed
    then someone touched my head.

    i finally see the ghost
    i knew i wasnt dreaming,
after i heard my mum screaming
she came into my room and said
“dont worry child i’ve only hit my head.”

  20. What has happenend to Tea?

What has happenend to Tea people?
    What has happenend to Tea?
There’s nothing in it to harm you
And has never had a long cue.

Why are you making Tea stop people
And why are you going to take the sugar out?
And why don’t I get that the kettle is going
    to be taken away too!

Why don’t you start loving tea for once
what even made you hate tea?
What has happenend to Tea people ?
    What has happenend to Tea!

  21. Why is everyone crying father?
    Why is everybody crying?
There are teers coming out from their eye’s
And they look like they’re going to faint

Why is there a croud of people ?
    They all have a cover
Why won’t you tell me father?
I’ll keep it as a secret

    Your saying it’s a dream
While you’re putting on some cream
    I say I don’t believe you
Then you say I’ve got flu

You tell me to go sleep
    But there’s to much noise
    These people are sobbing
    Why are they sobbing?

    Why is everybody sobbing father?
    I won’t cry
I won’t cry like they do
    I’ll just be like you

  22. Week 4 – Patten
I think my symbol is a book because a book is always interesting and when you open it a whole new adventure has started. I’m always imagining things up and i can also be unexpected just like a book. That is why I think my symbol is a book.
