At Pooles Park, we looked at the famous lion sculptures in Trafalgar Square and imagined what it would be like if the lions suddenly came to life.
Evin, our class representative for the project wrote a fantastic piece of creative writing.
As dark fell, the harmless, but realistic lion statues sitting on their grey block of stone came to life, the next minute as fierce, huge lions. As quick as a flash, I turned around at the screams of terror to see what it was. With my mouth open, I was mesmerised by the rapid lions staring right at me with big, red eyes. The frightened children squeezed their hands not letting go. I could smell the disgusting breath of the lion right in front of me. I was petrified. I started to think how to get the blood thirsty lions away. With my clever mind, I remembered I had a torch in my pocket as I was investigating. I used my bright torch and pointed it inside a delivery box to distract the lions. The plan worked as the lion was then in the box as we locked him up. I sighed with relief as I walked home.

I did they actually have to capture a heron
yes suhur. in the panting which is your fave bird?
I don’t like that they have the advantagde of the egale and they sewed their eys shut
it makes me feel sad because I love animals and I cant stand the fact they were killing it other than that I love how detailed it is and how realistic it is it is almost picture perfect
I can’t believe the violets with the birds
why did they put masks on them and sew them on their eyes?
The painting fascinated me because I wasn’t expecting a fight against the birds.
My class looked at the tiny camp in the bottom left corner.When i saw the whole pic i was like OH MY GOSH WOW the bird was huge.
I thought the man on the horse was a knight trying to kill the birds.
First I thought bird falling from the sky but I leant that the people playing hawking . I love this painting.
I really liked the painting, it was impressive unique.It has made me feel sorry for the birds.
It made me feel scared because of the falcons.
I like about this picture is where the tow berds are fiting
I like the birds fighting and I wanted to know how they are trained
I liked the birds fighting and Hawk eating the Herein
it is very inspiring to look at the panting and it is weird looking at the bierds fighting
First, i thought the people were starting a war, and i thought people had there own bird . But then i found out there birds were forced to fight each-other i got so surprised.Because i don’t think birds should do that to one another and it is very violent and very very scary.
My thoughts are one of the birds was saving the over one and eating it.
And stabbing it with it’s beak.
When I knew what was happening in the picture I felt sad because the
bird was killing the other one .
Before the picture i thought that the guy on the horse threw an arrow to the bird , and the other birds are coming to save it and maybe they did it because they had no food.
After i knew what the picture meant i thought that it was evil. And i think that the people were not helping.
Hi Bilal, It’s interesting to see how our understanding of a painting can change.
I thought that the birds were fighting. I like the picture because it makes me think of different stuff like an army.
What i think about Hawking in the Olden Times.
When i didn’t know what this i thought it had something to do with war but when i found out what it was actually about i was shocked.That it was a sport it was really cruel
that humans treated birds like that.
I do not LIKE THAT PICTURE because it has no birght colours and i love bight colors. And it is in the olden days and olden days pictures do not have bright colours,but the only bit i like is the drawing.
I fell different when ever i see the picture because its like the people want to kill the birds and make there eyes hurt because they look like they are blindfold and fell very sorry for them.

When I found out what the picture actually was I felt sorry for the bird that was attacked from the falcon.I didn’t like it because there is violence.Sir Edwin is a good artist.
Wen i first saw the picture i thought there was a tents but then i saw other pictures like a castle then i saw a crowd of birds i thought they were fighting.
When i found out what this picture was about i felt bad for the bird that was getting hurt from the falcon.
In this picture I see a soldier riding a white blond Haired Horse.
The feelings about this picture is “Winning” The soldiers are training a bird to kill other enemies birds.
At first i thought the picture was about two Birds fighting and killing each other then when our teacher said there hunting down.
Now i thought the are going to hunt with the bird and hope the bird wont die and take it to the castle and hunt with it.
I like the picture because it makes people now how to hunt.
at first I thought it was two army’s at war but then I thought two birds fighting and 2 birds are coming to help and the people are looking at them fighting but going a different way
I like the painting because I like fighting and the pictures based on two birds fighting each other.
At first i thought the picture was about a bird on the humans side attacking the other bird for the humans to get food.
I din’t like the picture because one of the birds were getting hurt. I think Landseer sir Edwin liked it because if he liked it he would know what it would look like.
My first thoughts were that the men were hunting the heron .
And they were doing that by using the hawk to hurt the bird
an put it to the ground . Then would hunt it.
My thoughts about the painting now I know what it is about
I don’t like it because they are hurting animals for no reason.
I thought that two birds are fighting because they both want the food from the main person. Or they’re trying to run away because he wants to catch the birds and try to eat them.
when I actually saw the picture I kind of felt sad for the heron because he was getting hurt by the falcon. I was also a bit amazed how strong the falcon was by the way he was trying to hurt the other bird. Also I thought that hawking isn’t fair because you should let any type of bird fly free.
i think i like the man holding the birds hats best hat and the white horse and theman
At first I thought it was the Romans invading the Egyptians and it was the 1 world war.I also thought that it was a tour in the castle.
