    1. We like your poem because it is really creative and it rhymes You inspired
us a lot .Our favourite part of the poem was my city has a lot of dark faces some can be found in elegant places.

  1. This is a verse written by Daisy & Mia from y6 Gillespie
My city is a mass of blocked spaces,
Some are polluted with no green places
With crime digging into all the young faces,
But some might be out kicking a ball about with a grin covering their sparkling braces,
My city is a mass of blocked spaces.

    1. Daisy and Mia I enjoyed reading your take on ‘My City’ it was a spectacular way of shining light on our problems.

  2. This is a verse written by Ahlam & Ada from year 6 Gillespie

My city has a lot of place
some can be found in abandoned places
found with the sound of unlimited greatness
the sun could be down on the broke mans faces
    him with the bad disease
my city has a lot of green spaces

  3. Hi this is Kayla and Imene we are from Gillespie primary school we have our own verse of `my city`:

my city has a lot of crimes
some gangs can be found in forgotten places
    getting murdered after getting braces
some people in the world aren’t kind

  4. London has some big places,
    London has some huge faces,
    Some of them are rich,
    Some of them are poor,
    London has some big places,
Every thing can change little places,
Every thing can change big places.

  5. My City

    London a busy place
Filled with people of different race
    Some happy, some sad
    Some good, some bad
    My city

    People are on the streets
    Listening to the beats
    Everyday they fight
    How about a little light
    Stuck alone in the dark
    My city

    Sitting on the tube
    Absorbing the mood
    Mainly sad, Some are glad
But you don’t know how to change their mood
    My city

    London, like a living human
    Always moving to different places
    Work,School you can’t tell
    Stuck inside of massive skyscrapers
    My city

  6. My city is a fantastic place
however there is crime scattering all over the maze.
    We see happy faces,
    sometimes their are sad faces.
    We can’t change it,
    but we can save it.
    We love our city,
    and we can’t change it.
We see the homeless hungry faces,
    We always cry in pain

Our city is full of opportunity,
That why our city is hard work.
We work twice as hard as other city’s,
    We love our people.
We will never forget our kind.

  7. Our city has a lot of faces
Our city has a lot of paces
Our city has a lot of crimes
Also with some lemons and limes
Our city has lots of cops
    While we go to shops
    Our city could sound lame
Our city with all its fame
While our city is all plain
    When we try to claim
That we drive down a lane
    While getting all the pain

    Our city….

  8. My city is full of dark cases;
in cases they’re are familiar faces,
    people work in different passes,
they win a lot of races.
    They judge other race,
other people get judged and get offended.

  9. North London, Part 1
Their eyes are glued to their phones,
All of them in their own world,
    Look deeper,Look closer,Think bigger,
Their are not only phones in this world,
    Their are lives at risk,

    South London,
    Everywhere you go there are abandoned places;
    Factories,houses,railways and more…

  10. Being born and raised in London is Hard
You only see the rich showing of their new cars
But the parts you don’t see are people going behind bars
    Youngsters getting shot
    There mothers getting bereavement cards.

  11. London is my home,
This is where I grew up,
    Different faces on their phones,
Gangs and crime are building up,
    Youngsters disappoint,
    Education is the key,
    Abandoned places,
    Different cultures and ages
    London is my home.

    1. Thank you for sharing. Using a refrain “London is my home” to structure your response works well and gives your poems a sense of balance.

  12. In London, we see glamorous faces
You might want to give them their private spaces
Inside every home is a different race
    Black, white or mixed-race
Many children want to play Fortnite and camp in their built bases
But older people like 18 or 21 are fighting on their cases

    Many people have sad faces
Some have braces and some want God to listen to their graces
There are many homeless people on the streets
if they had bad stuff like also getting beats
But rich kids might be spoiled and get many treats
This is not fair, We should make this right
Everyone has a voice and they can raise their lights

  13. My city, full of diversity
    Lots of people living
    Lots of people dying
You will see homeless hungry faces
While on the other side you will see happy faces

You will see tall, beautiful buildings like the shard
people with jobs work really hard .
Remember we have t save the poor if you want to volunteer , then give us a call .]
The best season in London is summer playing with with friends and families having fun but sadly
on the other side you will see sad people doing nothing on the street.
So let cheer them up and give them something to do with your life
To keep them from committing suicide.

    1. Hi Sean and Ismail. There’s a promising poem here. I like the start. However to develop your poem, you’ll need to take greater care over your word choices. Perhaps re-reading and considering alternatives once you’ve finished might help.

  14. Rush Hour

    Rush Hour
    On the tube
    Squished in among other races
    Seeing different faces
    So close your emotions evaporated

    Rush Hour
    On The Bus
Why is it such a fuss
    Standing up or sitting down
    Listening to the dinging sound

  15. Cramped in a restaurant,
    full of black and white.
    The light’s where bright,
as i waited in the long line.
    Waiting for the food,
i was fed up with my mood.
So i left and took the tube.

  16. In London were all stuck together
getting from one station to another, it takes forever
most of the time people are friendly
but sometimes you come across people who are unfriendly.

  17. Rush Hour

My city in rush hour is full of black and white faces
some of them are found on the bus
and some are found on the tubes.

  18. Squashed in several places,
All to see is different faces,
    buses
    trains
    and planes.
    Squished in all places

  19. Everything can be squashed in many place
Like trains, like buses they are all full of different people.
    Some are small.
    Some are big.
But everyone has places to go and everybody has their own places.
Just make sure that you are always in your own space because their are some places which are smelly like their breath and sometimes you are in someone armpit but we always have to go to different places.

  20. Part 2

    So restricted,claustrophobic,so tight,
No space to breath,no space to leave,
All to see is stressed faces,
Going to work to big big places.

Trying to get from places to places,
    Tubes are packed,
    Everything is packed,
    So restricted,claustrophobic,so tight….

    1. Thank you for sharing Ayran and Enis. Your use of commas in the opening stanza help to build the feeling of claustrophobia.

  21. Trying to get to one station to another,
    so many voices speaking,
    shouting, singing, and laughing,
peoples hands and armpits touching you,
    children to adults,
    going to work or school,
    so crowded,
getting to north, south, east, west and all the rest,
this is the life in rush hour.

  22. Hi Henok, Caleb and Jamil your poem was delightful to read it was a exquisite piece of writing.i really like the part when you said we wont forget your kind

  23. We like your poem because it is really creative and it rhymes You inspired

  24. We have been forgotten
    no where to be seen…
All I see is people rushing to work
    All I see is gangs
When will I stop getting scared?
    This is my city!

    I smell bitter barbecues
    I hear music blasting.
    People getting drunk at night
Screaming in pain, as they might
This city is history, this is my destiny
    This is my city!

    Why should people have guns?
Let them go complain to their mums!
Feel free to come to London and still see the London Dungeon.
    This is my city!

    People staying up at night,
but all they get is frights.
    Vandalism, Drugs, Gangs and Crime
every dark cloud has a silver line.
When did it start, when will it stop?
    This is my city!

  25. my first time in London
    i love it so much
    so many sights to see
London eye, the parliament and downtown abbey

    the people are so nice
    their accent is so posh
    they like fish and chips
    they like McDonalds

  26. Kings cross,
When i first came to London,
I thought… why is the king cross?
But then when i asked my parents they said…
The king is not cross its just a place,
    There is no king,
    But i was dissapointed
    They should never lie,
    Especially to me.

    New castle,
One day i woke up ,
i saw on my ipad that there was a place called newcastle,
I begged and Begged my parents to go because i loved castles,
    but then…

  29. Where am I?
    A new Location,
    So many different landmarks,
    Cars and buses,
    Bright red telephone boxes,

    Many different bridges to observe,
    so many different cultures,
    black white,
    very expensive shops,

    Cars driving around,
    so many different ages,
    children to adults,
    safe environment,

    Gangs and big groups rivalry,
    so many different fights,
    weapons and fist
    bad environment,
    where am I?

  30. First Impression.

London was not what I thought it was,
There was a lot of fuss,
People being squished on the bus,
    Nothing was as it seemed,

My parents into the dark streets
Even though i could hear some beats
    What could this mean?

    I never understood the names
Maybe they were just for fame
    Oxford Circus and Holloway
    What did these names mean?
Were they not to be seen?

  31. All alone in the countryside
Got a ticket to London from my beloved grandson
But thinking about London different from home
As usually nothing like home always
    All alone in the country.

  32. London
litter everywhere //cars buses trains trucks helicopter and planes
pollution guns knives people are lying
on the could ground every day you here it on the news // people
    are dying for no reason

  33. London is not what i thought it will be
    Litter everywhere
    No space to move
    There is crime and pollution
So many people rushing to school or work
London,London, where is the spark you had

  34. A London Thoroughfare

London, a light place in the day
    Covered in darkness at night
    The city’s getting darker,
    Your feet are moving faster.
    That’s London…. At night!

    No more warmth in London
    Whisked away by the light,
    At night…
    Number of cars are dropping
    Night buses are running
    Moving people around the city
    To the light!

  35. Thoroughfare at 2:AM

    Its 2 AM in London,
    The streets are quiet,
    The streetlights are shining bright
    and the roads are empty.

  36. London at night
Is a cold and isolated place
    There is so much space

    Beaming lamps and headlights everywhere
I thought that it would be dark at night
    But it is pretty light
And this is London at night

  37. Cold and Dark at 2 AM,
    Deserted at Night,
    Not knowing where to go,
    A trail of bright lights,

    The train is empty,
    All by myself,
no one to be safe with,
    just me alone,

The moon is clear from the dark sky,
Warmth is gone due to no people,
    shop lights still on,
    A few cars driving on,
    This is the black London.

  38. Happy London 2 a.m.
In the day London is bustling and full of life,
but when the nightfall comes its alien like.
    people are gone taking a rest in bed but London is still awake it will never end;
    Long live the Queen,

  39. Night

    London is dark,
    when your up above.
    Flying on a plane,
i saw a magic golden lane.
    The lamps were bright,
    clear and white.
    The moon was round,
    like a sphere
I went in a black cab,
    and i dabbed.
