  1. Flanders Fields

Flanders Fields makes me feel sorry about the soldiers that gave up their live to go to war and they didn’t die peacefully. I also feel that I’m grateful for the soldiers who saved us and went to war and sacrificed themselves for us.

  2. I felt depressed, as well as happy because it reminded me about the people that saved our country. It makes me feel happy for them. They saved all of us in the past. The sentence, ‘If ye break faith with us who die. It touches me a lot’.

  9. Flanders Fields

Flanders fields make me feel depressed.

It made me realize that all these people gave their lives for us, to make sure we were safe and not threatened. It gave me shivers and it just stopped me. It made me really think.

It made me think about family and about their family. I wondered about how their families felt. I guess it’s kind of hard to think that all these people died and not just 10 people but thousands and thousands of people.

I like this poem because it makes me feel proud. Proud of the people who fought for our rights. I say thank you.

    1. We shall remember you,
we have held up the torch
We know that you were dead days ago

But, we held up to make you have faith in us,
You have done more than we did
and we have to make that change.

  10. FLANDERS FIELDS!!!
Flanders fields make me feel like I am lucky ,emotional and it also makes me feel sub Jude, because they had to go through all of this for us to make our country the best it can be. Also have a good life and that they sacrifice there life for us and my family.

  11. FLANDERS FIELDS!!!

  12. Flanders Fields

Flanders Fields made me feel really emotional.

It made me think about how the people who went War Died for us to live a good life and have our country, that made me feel proud of them.

The thousands and millions of people that died made me realize that they had to sacrifice a lot such as family.

This poem really got to me making me feel sad and that’s why I think it’s such a good poem.

  13. Flanders field!
Flanders field makes me feel emotional because it makes me think about all the people who ever died in war and one of them was my great granddad. Also it makes me a b it depressed because it is a deep poem and makes me upset.

  14. Flanders fields makes me feel cold and sorry for the soldiers who had died in the war, because it is not just for me or you it was for everyone.

  15. In Flanders field

This poem makes me feel emotional because lots of people died. In this poem, it says ‘In Flanders fields the poppies blow’ and you know it is after the war. ‘We are the Dead, Short days ago’ that means it is the end of war. How would you feel? Also this poem is set in Flanders field, lots of people passed away during world war 2.

  16. Flanders fields
When I read Flanders fields poem it makes me feel scared and emotional, also, it makes me cry. It was sad because in the poem lots of people died ‘between the crosses, row and row’. I think that this poem is unpleasant due to the fact that it is about death and war. How would you feel if you were in this war? I would feel upset

    From Tianna 6b

  17. In Flanders Fields!!!

This poem makes me think strongly about wars. The second stanza is very emotional especially to the people that had a granddad die during that time. The gunshots make everything sound, as if it’s the war now. This poem [in Flanders fields] is very emotional.

  18. Even though that the poem was unpleasant and emotional I feel relieved because they are now heroes as well as some men lived and saved England. John McCrae, who is such a good poet, makes such sad and rhyming poems. How would you feel if you were in the war and you dies? As a result we now have Remberance day, when we were bright red poppies.

  19. The poem Flanders Fields is a very depressing poem. In addition, my favourite part was ‘In Flanders Fields the poppies flow between the crosses row on row’, because it is rythmitic. Also, it reminds me of my great great granddad , who fought in World War Two, valliantly he survived!

  21. This poem makes my heart ache due to the fact that lots of people passed away. The part ‘We live, felt dawn, saw sunset glow’ makes me feel emotional the most. I feel relieved that no more innocent, brave and strong people have to die. This poem, which is about people in the war dying, makes me feel glad we are not in the appalling war any more. How do you feel about the poem?

  22. This poem is about death and sadness, therefore it made my heart fill up with emotion . John McCrae the author of the poem made it sad by saying “in Flanders field the poppies blow between the crosses, row and row”. Also this poem reminds us that our great nan and granddad were affected by the war

  23. This poem makes my heart ache due to the fact that lots of people passed away. The part ‘ We live, felt dawn, saw sunset glow’ makes me feel emotional the most. I feel relieved no more innocent, brave and strong people have to die anymore. This poem, which is about people in the war dying, makes me feel glad we are not in the appalling war anymore. How do you feel about the poem?

  24. We have the torch which has been passed down
we know you have given up your life for us
now we shall do the same and we shall hold the torch high until we die

  25. Your body may have died,
But your spirit is still inside
We will never forget you, always remember
Your soul is still alive, as long as there is,
    11th of November.

  26. We have caught the torch of Flanders field .
Your running was not in vain.
Your poppy has been remembered by all, We won’t,
Let you down – the torch will be high forever.
    On Flanders fields.

  27. Your body lies across the floor, beside the people you adore.
The words you have said, are still stuck in our head.
We caught the torch that you threw, and I’ll do anything just for you.
I’m wearing a poppy just for you, that’s from the people that you love and knew…

  28. This is our stanza for the poem In Flanders Fields.

We have caught your torch, and we will take up your quarrel
    with the foe.
The torch, hold it high and win the battle.
    Never give up.

  29. In Flanders Fields,
    Where the poppies grow,
    And the Dead lie,
    The poppies shall be worn,
    To remember you by,
For we have caught your torch,
And will carry it bravely, wherever we go,

  30. Poppies sway from side to side as your bravery still lives,we have caught your torch on flanders fields and shall cherish it forever,
eventhough you had died a hundred years ago ,
you will always be in our hearts until the dawn touches the dusk.

  31. We once held the torch,
but now we leave it to you.
    We have grabbed the torch,
we have held it high rememberance of you.
We have seen the poppies grow and we have
seen them go , but every red delecut poppy reminds us of you.

  32. We’ll never surrender,
    We’ll take your place
    In the fight
We’ll make you worth dying for
In the night in Flanders Fields
We’ll flattern them , wipe them out
Untill they shout the two words no one wants to say
In Flanders Fields hip hip horay!

  33. Response to Flanders Fields.

    Crosses fill the Flanders Fields,
And Larks are in the air.
    We will remember you,
    No matter what.
We’ll just try annd make it fair . . .

    The ammo flies,
    But the Larks wont die,
    Just soldiers are gone,
    The angels all cry.

How many more dreadful years are to come?
    It doesn’t matter, nothing matters,
    We’ll make your passing meaningfull.
    And never, EVER run!

    We died for you,
    Now we cry for you.
    Now, there’s a hole in my life . . .

    1. Nate, this is a really lovely thoughtful response. I particularly like how you included rhyme without making the rhyming silly. I look forward to seeing more of your poetry.

  34. Ye Brave Soldiers
We know that ye taught us to fight
We have the torch that is alight
To show us that you are heros
    In Flanders Fields

The crosses glisten in the sky
    While I really wonder why
    You are worrying about us
    In Flanders Fields

We wear the poppy red with pride
As we remember you who died
    Bravely for your country
    In Flanders Fields

  35. flanders filed
we have held up the torch high
    ye brave soldiers
    helped and fight
    soldiers took there life away

    in flanders filed

    by are heros
    in flanders field

    in flanders filed

we heros a poppy fao a reason to remmber ye 100 year ago

  36. i think Flanders field poem is a very emotional poem because its about people dying for the country, also it is a very sad poem because they did this just for us and are family this is a very touching poem. I think the part that was sad was when the author quoted we live, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.i think it means they used to live and was loved and now there in flanders field, dead.

  48. In Flanders Field their poppies grow
Their roots reach down amongst the bones
    The mlodding bones
Their soul now waits deep under ground
Amongst the shattered flegment of twisting death of youthful
no heroes these but comman men
breath of gas from chocking death

  51. World At War
Called to war serving our time,
Parted again from our children and wife,
Opening and closing our front doors,
    Bang,slam against the walls,
    Ready to fight ,
    Time to go to war.

Putting our life’s on the line,
Can’t back away now, can’t surrender,
    The war has began,
    Salute my city with pride,
Ready for them to take my life,
No time to cry for my friend,
Knowing that this is the end.

Here we lay on the sea of blood red poppies,
    All our life’s have ended,
    We fought our battles together,
And we end our life’s together,
We stayed strong and never gave in,
    Until it was too late,
Now we are berried in Flanders Fields,
    Is this the end?
    Or just the beginning?
