Hi,I have a question for you why did they have houses on the bridge. I looked at the paintings and my faverite painting was Katrina Slade because they look really interesting.
first, I thought that the painting will be boring but then I saw the painting but then WOW I was amazed the tunnels the the reflection it was just amazing.
I like the old London bridge because its different and its nice to have something unique. I don’t think its something you would put on your wall but its interesting and fascinating to study and look at. After I heard about the North and South sides I wanted to learn more.
In class we discussed the differences between the city and the other side of London Bridge. We followed this up by having a class debate about which side was better. We decided that country-life was more exciting then city life.
We really enjoyed how the artist showed reflection on the water.
This week we studied Claude de Jongh’s painting of old London Bridge. The children discussed how the bridge was different from bridges today and what it might have been like living on the bridge. They were fascinated to learn that the head’s of traitors were displayed on spikes on the bridge.
We compare the architecture of the buildings on both sides of the bridge and wondered who might live there.
We considered what it might have been like to walk over the bridge on our way to a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

The bridge is very dull for me and it is not the type of panting I would have on my wall Is it your favourite .

Hi Jupiter,
I’m glad you enjoyed the painting. The reflection is a fascinating detail.
I like the heads on spikes because it’s a warning not to mess with royal family
I cant believe that there’s houses on the bridge and heads on spikes on houses
how did the boat’s go under the bridge.
Hi Alfie and Ibrahim,
Well spotted. Do you know why the heads were placed on spikes?
its tall
this photo is not ideal for me, because it dose not pop with colour but I think that the artist captured the seen of London bridge .
I wonder if the houses didn’t fall off the brige
Hi Molly Rose,
Yes, the houses hanged over the Thames. They also threw some unpleasant stuff into the Thames straight from their house.
Why are there buildings in the bridge and people’s heads on spikes?
I like the head on spikes because you know not to mess with the royal people
We have been studying Old London Bridge
I was interested to learn that buildings were on the bridge and heads on spikes were left there.
Ayub thought that it was fascinating how the bridge didn’t fall down with all the buildings on top of it.
I agree with Ayub. I wonder if it has something to do with the materials used in the houses.
What do you think the houses are made out of Ayub?
