  1. I think that he shouldn’t have pulled it over and over again because in my head I was like “The ropes going to break” Also it’s a bit of common sense because you don’t just see a rope dangling from nothing in the sky, it’s going to break if you tug it too hard.

    1. Thank you Ali for your response. What do you think drives the man to pull the rope so many times?

  2. If I saw a bright red, thick rope hanging from the sky, I would not touch it. It could move, and perhaps even wrap around me. Especially that it is coloured red, that is usually a sign of, “DO NOT TOUCH.” So I would definitely leave it alone.

    1. Thank you Ayaan. Interesting thoughts on the colour of the rope; I’ve never considered its importance before.

  3. He should not have been messing around with the switch because even after he switched the day to night the first time, he should have realised it was dangerous.

  4. I would have probably pulled the rope, out of temptation. But once I realize what the rope does. I would probably leave it alone because something bad might happen. For instance, when I first saw the man tugging at the rope, I knew it was most likely going to break.

  5. I liked the film as I found it funny when the man kept pulling the rope.
I would’ve done it a few times to see what would happen but then would’ve stopped, in case the rope broke.

  6. i don’t think he should of pulled the rope because it looked dangerous and he should not pulled it that many times.

  7. I think he should not of done it and in way, he was greedy and selfish and did not think what it might do and he had to think ahead. Don’t push your luck.

  8. I can understand why he pulled the rope the first time; I would have probably done the same, but I think that he got a bit carried away and his curiosity got the best of him. Overall, he shouldn’t of pulled it so many times

  9. After pulling on the rope once I would probably be extremely worried. I would most likely leave immediately and either report it or completely forget about it (after I make sure I wasn’t dreaming).

  10. Although he was curious, he shouldn’t have pulled the rope because if i saw a random rope dangling, i would just leave it alone because I don’t know what it would do.

    1. Yes curiosity and temptation seem important concepts in this film. Could you explain more about the dangers of the man’s curiosity?

  11. I thought it was strange and I don’t understand why the man was already walking there and why he pulled the rope so many times

  12. I would of defiantly pulled the rope because the temptation was real but at the same time he shouldn’t of pulled the rope that many times.

    1. Hi Jasmine, Yes I think temptation is an important concept when considering the film. Could you explain a bit more?

  13. I think he was fool to pull that rope because there was no sign telling him what it is. I did like the film, it was very exciting and an excellent story. He should of not pulled it so many times because I knew that the rope would get stuck.

        1. Why not start by explaining what you think is happening Jake?

And list some questions you have about the film?

  14. discovering such thing and instead of studying on it to see if anything bad could happen he just keeps playing with it until he broke it

  15. I think the rope symbolizes man’s love for controlling things, the Earth, Land, Nature, and thusly I think that the rope was irresistible

    1. Very interesting Joseph. If the rope symbolises man’s desire to control, what is the message regarding the broken rope at the end?

  16. I would have pulled it to see what it did, but then I would leave it alone after turning it back on. I would probably tell someone about it though.

  17. i don’t really think it was a good idea to pull the switch too many times because if you do that with a normal light switch it would burst and what came down from the sky that got me mostly confused

  18. this person is called Agatha she is 10yrs old and she loves mystery’s as you see this would be very mysterious for Agatha and she would pull the rope but she found out it turned the whole world night so she therefore would pull it again to make it day and she went to tell the proper authorities

  19. i don’t see the difference apart from the fact that its day and night.i also don’t see why he would even be interested in a red rope dangle from the sky

  20. i think he shouldnt of pulled it to may times because its a bit odd to see a rope hanging from the sky that turn the light of and on and if i saw it i would probally pull it but only twice because anything could happen like i could fall like it did,it could come alive and mabye the owner of the rope could come and punish me

  21. I think that after he pulled the rope once that he should have walked away because he didn’t and the rope fell so I would have just left it.

  22. I would have pulled it over and over again to see what else might have happened, although i would have been apprehensive about doing it. Its just sometimes you need a bit of adventure!!

  23. Honestly, it seems like one of those creepy Japanese urban legends. There is many scary stories related to the colour red, such as Red room or writing someone’s name in red so I wouldn’t touch it. Don’t search them up if you don’t like scary things lol.
    Here is a theory
There is a myth where people have an invisible red thread tied to their pinkie that leads them to the person they will make history with. I feel as if this is the same sort of thing except the rope is not on his finger. The man affected many people as you can hear as he backs away. From the backround noise, I think that there was a car crash. Maybe he was supposed to find the rope and switch the lightbulb on and off(day and night) too many times which would affect history and life. Anyways, I might be going too deep here but still.
Also I feel like if someone else found that the red rope could switch day on and off, wouldn’t they video it or get a crowd of people to see?

    1. Thank you Serena. Yes I can see parallels with Asian horror films I’ve watched.

I guess whether or not the incident would be record depends on the era.

  24. It’s in a human’s nature to be curious. At first he is cautious but obviously interested in this strange rope. Anyone would be. But some people would walk away, thinking it’s just too weird. Others would pull it, then go. The rest would continue to pull until it broke.
I think that this reflects the earth: we are curious as to what potential the earth has. We continue to pull the rope (producing carbon emissions, developing technology). But when the earth has given all it has, and is left dark and cold, we will leave and take up residence in another planet, where we will continue to use up the this new planet’s bounty, or we will have learned from our mistakes and use it carefully.

    1. Very interesting Ethel. There is a large industrial plant in the background which might suggest a link. There is also the darkness of the final moments. I can see how the rope represents choices.
