  1. If I had my Portrait panted, I would most definitely wear some sort of matching smart clothing, and not in my pyjamas, or have some silly hat on.

    1. Hi Ayaan,

People would give a lot of consideration to what they are wearing in a portrait. You’ll see John Joseph Merlin choses clothes that makes him look like a gentleman.

  2. I would not ‘strike a pose’. I would just sit on a chair with some smart clothing to make myself look pleasant.

  3. He looks like he is up to something you know that from his mischievous face it looks like he has got something in his suit that he doesn’t want anyone to seek it could be something extremely dangerous maybe a knife to murder someone. He looks like someone has said something he did not want them to say and he replies back “ Are you sure about that”in a low cunning voice. And stab him there and then.

    1. Hi Reuben, Very perspective. Gentleman would place their hands in their jackets in this way to show their dagger is at rest.

  4. I found this very interesting. I would be sat up against a tree with 1 knee up and the other 1 straight if i had my portrait done. I would wear my very comfy tracksuit because you would be sat there for a very long time. It was very detailed and interesting to learn about John Joseph Merlin. My favourite invention was the roller skates because they are faster but more dangerous. But I do think the card set for the blind was very clever.

    1. John Joseph Merlin is one of my favourite historical figures Riley. Did you see the clip where he crashed into a giant mirror because her forgot to put brakes on his roller-skates?

  5. He looks like a gentleman someone who acts accordingly. He also has a chair made from leather and I think back then Leather seats were for the wealthy and he certainly looks wealthy. He has rings which could possibly show he has many wives or he is rich. If I was him I would wear something not to bright but not to dark. I would be outside and wear my best piece of clothing. I would sit on a tree log or a chair.

    1. Thank you Lucas. Yes he is trying to pose as a gentleman. His clothes and rings are a reflecting his status.
