Once there was a boy, a boy of about five or six. He had heard that a witch lived in the forest overlooking his home village. He so wanted to know his fortune, so one day he set out for the wood, with a gift for the witch. He saw mysterious arrows on the floor, and he somehow knew that they would lead him to the witch. And they did. Her home was a hollow oak tree, with a door carved out of one side. He knocked on the door and a creaky voice said, “Come in…”
Great moment to pause your story Electra building a sense of suspense.
Chalenge 1
Once upon a time there was a land called England and everything had turned odd. There were fish on the trees, babies pushing their dads, dogs walking people, horses riding men. A boy called Simon noticed something wasn’t quite right, so he decided to find a way to make England normal again. Simon found a mysterious treasure chest in his garden lying in a flower patch. It seemed like a sign that he must change the world back again. Brave as a super hero he set off to find a wise witch that he briefly knew. When he arrived in her cave she was playing solitaire, and there were lots of animals hanging from the ceiling. Anxiously he approached the witch asking how to open the locked chest. “You are interupting my favorite game, What do you want little boy?” grumbled the witch. Simon answered that he needed help to open his chest. “I believe in the power of vegtabals, so take this leek and unlock the chest with it and brake the spell. Simon took the leek and opened the chest and suddenly there was a yellow strike of light and sparkling stars in the cave. He ran out of the cave as scared as a trapped rat. When he came out everything was back to normal and he was relieved.
And then lived happily ever after.

Challenge 2
Once there was a girl and a rhino. They were circus performers and loved it. They juggled hoops on a tightrope and they did it spectacularly. One day, the little girl missed a hoop but that wasn’t the problem, the problem was that the hoop hit a horse so the horse started running and kicked the ringmaster. At the end of the show the ringmaster fired the girl. The girl was really upset because she loved what she did and she had made so many friendships especially with the rhino. Little did she know, that the rhino quit (or in another way, wrecked the tent and then left) because he liked their friendship too much. After that, they didn’t know where to go so they wandered off with the girl on the rhino and the rhino carrying their belongings feeling rather tired.

Without thinking, he sprinted in the danger zone to see a family being held captive.

Once upon a time, there was a boy called Jeff, he was seven years old. He was quite lonely and he wanted a friend, then one day he heard form the local fishmonger that there was a witch who lived in the top of a big mountain. Jeff was very excited because he might be able to ask the witch for a friend. So, Jeff set off towards the mountains. When he finally reached the top, Jeff was out of breath. He felt quite scared because he was extremely high up. When he turned around he saw a shaggy old hut with old and dusty objects that he had never seen before. When Jeff walked into the hut, the door slammed shut behind him. When he looked ahead of him, he saw a bright coloured ball. Then all of a sudden a old lady came out of nowhere and said in a croaky voice,
“What is your wish young boy…”
Jeff grinned to himself. He had done it, he had finally found the witch.
“Here is a leek that you can eat”. said the witch “errr thanks said the boy as he left to go and plant it in his back garden. But the minute it touched the soil the leek set the soil on fire! the fire died quickly but the boy was interested to see what else this leek could do. When the family cat tried to scratch him it vanished this left the family in mouring. at dinner the carrots seemed alive, they were dancing around on his plate dodging his fork. And that’s when he realised this was a magic leek! he was astonished when he realised that. He thought it was best kept a secret. As the years went past he got older and older until finally he was old enough to marry. The day after his wedding he told his wife about the magic leek. she said “Think of all the fun we could have with this!”
Once upon a time there was a boy about 9. His dying wish was to be rich. he had not gone to the wood of fortune to see the famous fortune teller in case it disappointed him. He was always trying to pluck up enough courage to go there. One day, on his 10th birthday he had finally decided to go and see her. He said to his parents “Mum dad, I’m going to a friend’s house” Their reply : “Be back by dinner!” And so off he went, into the dark, damp forest of fortune. There wa only 1 problem, he had absolutely no idea where he had to go! He decided to knock on one of the trees. So he did. To his surprise a crackly voice answered “C-come i-in.”
The young girl was coming back from the river and she noticed a big tent the size of 100 rhinoceroses, she decided to have a look at this mysterious big tent. If this meant not being poor then she would do anything. As she went in a man in a black vest said “Ticket?”
She replied”I don’t have one.”
The man said “No ticket, no circus.”
“Circus?”
“Yes”
She thought about this for a moment.
“I’ve come to get a job in here.”
“Jobs are over there.” He pointed to a sad looking caravan with 2 people inside it. The little girl strolled over there with her pet rhino Terry. As she reached the old van a man said “Come in.” After 30 minutes of questions they went home feeling very happy. When she got home she said “Mum, Dad I got some money and will be getting money every day while doing a job!!”
“Wow my sweet pea!” replied Father in a satisfied tone. And the next day she went off to do her job.
Thank you Paddy.
Once upon a time, there was a little boy wondering
about his future and as he was wandering along
the high street, he heard a rumour about a fortune
teller and witch living in a nearby ancient wood. So he set off in the direction of the wood. Before long, he was at the witch’s door. The boy knocked on the door.
A withered hand grabbed him by the scruff of his neck
and harshly dragged him in.
Then the witch sat on a chair like a throne, and looked into her crystal ball and a green creature stared at him and then back at her and nodded. The skull on the bookshelf glared the boy, scaring him with its creepy eyes and smile. Animals hung over him, strangely alive when he wasn’t completely looking.
She peered into her crystal ball. And next when she spoke her voice was dry and raspy like three of her talking at once. “You will survive the curse.” she croaked and then fell back.
Her voice returning to normal, she handed him a leek and said “This will protect you from the sorcerer’s spell.”
He hurried away, back to his home and the leek protected him from everything being switched around. His dog stayed a dog, and his fish didn’t fly.
Thank you Thomas.
I do not know what the other challenges are.
What are they?
Hi Arun,
I think it is referring to the other learning resources e.g. on poetry, art and film.
